I also loved Legion. The reason for me, and probably for many others (subconsciously) is that we began killing wolves or boars, trying to protect some trainees in our starting zone. The modern equivalent to D&D's "You all start in a tavern..." you begin your adventures in Azeroth as a nobody. You level up to the point where the leaders of the factions may have even heard of you, whether you saved Marshal Windsor and uncovered Onyxia or lead your team of adventurers into the bowls of Molten Core to defeat the Fire Lord (Ragnaros) himself! You joined Khadgar in Outland, defeated the infamous Lich King, Slew the dreaded Deathwing, and meditated with hippie pandas before playing with time travel and alternate universes. Finally... you were the head of your order, Highlord of the Silver Hand (Paladins), and you had come a long way from those early days fighting wolves to protect the abbey outside of Stormwind. You wielded weapons of yore, made famous by other heroes! You improved upon that weapon with artifact power and became an amazingly powerful version of yourself. So this was the full circle for our characters that we had been playing for years. It was the final chapter, as we had achieved all that we could have dreamed in the early days. It was the culmination of all of our hard work and the last strings of story that needed to be finished off as we defeated the Demonic Legion of Sargaras and helped trap the Titan himself. This was the last of WC3 storylines that needed to be answered for and we did it, well... we and our order hall members, but we were there! Anyway, that's why I believe many people enjoyed it. Thanks for reading!
@edd_TV9 ай бұрын
Loved your storytelling with the 'through-the-years' of WoW, very enjoyable read. I think the 'head of your order' thing is quite a topic. In another of my videos I talk about how we are now regarded as 'Azeroth's Champions' or we get bestowed with throwaway titles such as 'The Maw-Walker' for instance. A lot of people disliked this more than I thought. I think maybe I got used to it from playing so much FFXIV, where you are essentially the main character and hero: the Warrior of Light. A lot of people in the comments said they felt fed up with this in WoW, and just wanted to go back to being an ordinary adventurer. I think it's horses for courses though. We all like and enjoy different things and have expectations with a story experience. I really like your summary of this, and it definitely felt full circle. I think if Legion was the final word in World of Warcraft's arc, I would have been very happy with it. Really great comment. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and feelings!

@@edd_TV i would have liked BFA to have been WoW2. Years later, new adventures take up the mantle of defenders of the horde and alliance, level to 60 in Kul Tiras or Zandelar, as the blood of Azeroth soaks the littered battlefields of warring factions. But I digress. You're right about the champion fatigue too, I was a general during WoD, Order Hall commander in Legion, champion during BFA, and so on. And yet... no one seemed to know us, as we were still made to do menial tasks for every quest giver who needed us to pick through garbage for trinkets. So I believe people were frustrated because despite the fact they called us champion and hero, we weren't actually treated as such and after a while it feels like mockery. Just my opinion on that. Back to xpac design, patch cadence was top notch, 12 variations of the story to play through, such as the rogue hall uncovering the betrayal of the broken shore offensive vs hunters defeating the hound master to cut off more reinforcements. Each Order hall provides more story to help give different views on the events. It was great. Awesome upload 👌

I've only just found your channel as this was a surprise recommendation to me. I must say it was a genuinely heart tugging video that reminded me of how I felt during Legion. I was only able to play the first couple of patches of Legion but I always kept up with it through media and the association of my friends and the tales we told about the incredible things we had. Each of us with a unique experience of the classes or secrets that we've discovered in the nooks or crannies of the Broken Isles. While there were of course moments of down and poor experiences, from Tyrion's screwed over death to the awful artifact grind and insanely uncontrollable legendaries. It reminded me greatly of how Wrath operated, an absolutely incredible expansion with so many damning long term introductions. However, with all that said, Legion is how I and many others in my friend circles choose to describe WoW's *Perfect* modern expansion The honouring of the days long gone, the stories told and each of the NPCs and fascinating storylines that were exuded in the nature of the Class Halls. The stories told of the Broken Isles, of the War of the Ancients finally revealed, the incredible ability to finally have an "Artifact" and to get those absolutely fucking incredibly feeling buffs and bonuses as you move down the trees. To professions feeling needed, and the unique nature of the quests and delving into the capacity to learn and explore the world for the improvements, and how could I possibly forget the Artifact Fishing Rod. Chef's kiss one and all. I still to this day regret missing the Mage Tower and the later patches of the Expansion. Fantastic video and a fantastic reminder of the joy I had in WoW. I'm not sure I'll return for War Within but I hope it is even half as good as Legion was.

Warcraft 4 could have told the story of the 4th war better, and then launch WoW 2 with Dragonflight could have been nice, but given how attached people are to their stuff it's a risky proposition. BUT I should elaborate what I had envisioned with WoW2, maybe even rename it in to "Worlds Of Warcraft" going as far as destroying Azeroth by making the Titan awaken. And having all the races and faction scramble to reach other worlds via high magic spaceships, portals etc and finding other conflicts and discoveries in the great sea. Go on full high magic spellpunk setting with a long time skip. Something unique and different enough from any other game setting that it wouldn't conflict with the original WoW to much, such as Everquest did jumping from 1 to 2 or the aforementioned Destiny 1 to 2.

Great video! I have very fond memories of Legion, especially since I only played the last 2 patches. I didn't have a lot of the issues surrounding the artifact power grind & legendary RNG that others had early on. I remember the day BFA pre patch hit, people weren't even looking forward to the new expansion at all. Everyone in the guild wanted to stay in Legion. I've never seen that happen with new expansion content before. We all knew BFA couldn't possibly be as good as Legion was, and oh boy were we right. I genuinely believe if they were to bring Legion classic to life, it would be immensely popular. However if they do, I hope they adjust a few things first and then go ahead with it. It definitely needs a few tweaks for it to be as successful as it could be. (such as ditching the titanforging altogether, legendary RNG, and perhaps pathfinder too. I hated that shit as someone who started the expansion late, it felt almost impossible to achieve unless you were unemployed) Other than that, it truly was (imo) the peak of modern WoW. Whilst its to blame for a lot of the system issues that unfolded in BFA & Shadowlands, Legion had so many positives it didn't really matter. As you said, we were spoiled for content & storylines.

Some of the main npc deaths, like Tirion for example, felt like they were killed off just to create an impactful moment rather than let them die in a way that makes more sense story wise.

I firmly believe that a major reason why Legion was so well received was because it was the expansion that came after Warlords of Draenor, arguably the worst expansion until Shadowlands came around. Legion was a complete 180 for Blizzard. We really thought that Blizzard was going to double down and make yet another disastrous expac, but then they surprised us with Legion and it was an absolute hit. I’m glad Blizzard finally saw the light, it was the next WotLK of the new generation.

I was SO bored in WoD, so to have all of this stuff to do felt great for me. But I do understand why it really upset others and deterred them from Legion. @@edd_TV My most memorable moment of WoD was the disastrous launch. Couldn’t log in because the servers were overloaded so much that people were getting outrageously long wait times on the login screen ( _Queuelords of Draenor_ ), and on top of that the game frequently crashed during the introductory experience so even if you got in, the game client failed and you had to log back in and wait in the queue. Artifact power grind(BFA had the same problem, which they solved in 8.2) - which if you didn't Mythic Raid and didn't do combined M+ keys weren't a problem, I was always behind in Artifact power, especially in BFA and it didn't prevent me from clearing Heroic raids and +10/15 M+ dungeons. 3. Legendaries - yeah they aren't legendary at all. Also I disagree, at least on Heroic Tomb of Sargeras was fantastic, I still think Nighthold and Antorus were better, but ToS is one of the best raids of all time for sure.

Thank you for sharing PvP related stuff, as it's something I really lack experience with. I totally agree with your comments on both the artifacts and the legendaries. I will say Tomb of Sargeras was a lot more enjoyable on Heroic, for sure! I really enjoyed beating Kil'jaeden. I think I'm critical of it because of what it did to me and my guild during our Mythic progression. I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed it though. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@edd_TV Pretty much everyone disliked ToS on mythic, because Blizzard are just obssessed with making it hard for the world first guilds, but still there are 4 difficulties, it makes sense for the highest one to be torture. I personally stopped Mythic raiding current tiers after Emerald Nightmare due to lack of time, but they weren't fun for me anymore too, as they required too much time and effort, while not focusing on being fun.
@edd_TV9 ай бұрын
@@rattlehead999 Yeah, that is still so clear to see with Dragonflight today too. The amount of nerfs that consistently come in is getting incredibly disheartening, and I think Mythic needs a serious look at. I would personally campaign for an introduction to 10-man mythic, as I feel that my time in both Firelands/Throne of Thunder in a 10 man setting was really great, and I'd like to see something like that again. But you are bang on the money. The barrier to entry for Mythic generally speaking too is just exhausting, let alone all the admin/organisation that comes with it. I'm contemplating a video on it, but you are absolutely right. I think had I just done Heroic ToS, I would have had a completely different view on it.
@rattlehead9999 ай бұрын
@@edd_TV Hell yes. 10 Man groups are the best and I miss them so much. 10 Man groups means that everyone is engaged during the fight outside of just global mechanics and it's much nicer to be with 10 people than 14-20(including Normal/Heroic), communication is easy and you get to know the people better. I miss 10 Man in WotLK and especially Cata and MoP, times were great. The main problem is that Blizzard care about the top 1-3% of the player base and the bottom 10% more than the other 87-89% in the middle. IMO they should make Normal Raid difficulty be between LFR and where Normal is now, so that it becomes the PuG difficulty. A modern day equivalent to WotLK's 10 Man Normal or MoP's Flex(without the auto-grouping of course). Heroic is fine where it is and Mythic should be made so it doesn't have to be nerfed, they should make a Mythic plus raid difficulty only for raid first clearers. And it would be cool if they scaled old raids(from Cata onward) to Normal(or pre-Normal) ilvls so every patch we have decades worth of raiding content, you just still get to do 1 raid a week or 1 old raid + the current raid. Also I think that raids shouldn't reward higher ilvl than Normal Raid, instead give you +1 gem socket on Heroic and +2 gem sockets on Mythic, while having exclusive better looking armor, exclusive pets, toys, achievements, etc for those difficulties. That would solve the power creep that makes them stat squish every other expansion.
@edd_TV9 ай бұрын
@@rattlehead999 Very well written. I wholeheartedly agree with you. The scaling of old raids would be a huge win for Blizzard. Ive played since the original WoW beta, and still consider Legion the best expansion Blizzard ever released. Only TBC and Wrath really stood any chance of challenging Legion. Legion catered to every single part of the WoW playerbase. The open world was thriving, PvP was alive, Raiding was doing great and M+ was introduced. There was always something to do. All content was relevant for everyone. Legion is legit the only expansion where I regret not playing more World of Warcraft. If I had known this was going to be as good as it was ever going to get I would have played much more. Now we get 3 raids and 10 bad dungeons every expansion, and the most boring progression system in the history of WoW with ZERO class fantasy. Genuinely sad. Loved the vid, loved Legion.

I think it's possible to take positives from all of those expansions, although Shadowlands would be extremely difficult in the eyes of many. Whether we want to point the finger at Activision, Bobby Kotick or whoever it may be, it's clear that Blizzard's goals were to generate as much money as possible, as opposed to the love and care that was going into their product like we saw in Legion and even before that.

It's a long shot, for sure, but not impossible! I think MoP has to be a guarantee now Cata is on the way. WoD will be tricky, but I think with a really fast-paced patch cadence, it might make a better experience overall. People sit around in Dalaran in Classic Wrath all the time, so sitting in the Garrison can't be that bad! It seems to be a raid-logging game at this point anyway, so I think WoD may actually get received a bit better. Maybe more people will check out Challenge Modes, or maybe they could even revamp things. I think WoD could be a really cool idea if they were happy to make some changes for it. It seems crazy to even type the words 'Classic Legion', but SO many in the comments want it!

Never felt stronger as a Shaman, both enh and ele, and had so much fun raid healing as a monk and played feral druid simply to look amazing with the new cat forms. (boy do i regret not doing mage tower for the cat skins) Stormkeeper with chain lightning was insane on mythic + Suramar was absolutely stunning, had a lot of variety despite the similar aesthetic. You could tell where you were in the city just by your immediate surroundings. I spent so many hours there each day and loved the pace of the quests that came out over time and lead to the manasaber mount. Made my first million gold by collecting starlight rose herbs. My only issue was that Broken Shore and Argus felt like the same thing twice, and of course, the legendary system. I was fortunate enough to get great luck with my main legends, but witnessed and had terrible luck on my alt. 9/10 expansion in my opinion

My plan originally was to create sections for them in the video, but the video was already getting too long. I think that eventually it made WoW feel quite formulaic too with other zones that followed suit in retail today. I think 9/10 is a great rating. Legion was what can be when they can take their time to actually flesh out a expansion. And now they are going to even decrease the development cycle...

That's a very good point. Expansions will be coming at a faster rate, which is a bit alarming. I don't see why they feel the need to rush things out. I think they should adopt the same philosophy as FFXIV, where if you feel that you're done with the game, you can dip out and take breaks. If you're going to do something, do it right.

@@edd_TV Honestly I think this is, because they can already cash out on the "early launch" epic edition (80% more than base) and if they can sell 3 expansions with 80% more revenue each in the time span of what would normally be 2 expanions, they will do.

Before getting to my personal thoughts: Great video, especially with touching on the lore of the expansion. I know you said you got a lot of it from a post, but you still mentioned it and explained it pretty well for people who may not have been present or paid attention to the lore of Legion, or for people like me, who read all the quest text they could, but have forgotten most of it over the past seven years. As for my opinion: Legion was full of great content - I even liked ToS and CoEN, tbh, though I despised Seat of the Triumvirate(probably because it took until 7.3.2 for people to start actually learning the dungeon) - but was marred by a few things you mentioned: - Legiondaries being 100% random until I think 7.3 the vendor was added, and even then, it wasn't until 7.3.2 that you could more easily target specific legendaries, to the point where CE guilds had people re-roll the same class and spec if they didn't get one or both of their BiS legendaries in their first four drops. This took WAY too long to remedy. I started normal EN as a ret paladin and only finally got my BiS leggos right before they changed Chain of Thrayn(my first leggo) from a heal on someone you use Blessing of Freedom on to a DPS-increasing leggo... then they introduced the legendary rings from Legionfall, and I ended up switching to ele shaman for M ToS and Antorus. (And somehow, got 9 legendaries - including my BiS for ST ele, AoE ele, and enhancement - in two and a half weeks real-life.) - The way M+ keystones functioned until I believe 7.2 or 7.2.5, with the depleting function. I remember early in the expansion, there would be people that got their rocks off by taking a group of four, pugging one person with a decently high keystone, and all dropping party as soon as the keystone is inserted, inting the key. - After this was remedied, the Legion dungeons were great for M+, and I honestly hated M+ afterwards. The Legion dungeons generally felt like you were just clearing the entire dungeon while being as effective as possible; BfA and SL(didn't play DF) M+ dungeons feel far more about figuring out the best M+ route and having the best comp you can possibly have before entering the dungeon, while avoiding as many mobs as possible while still hitting 100%. Previously, I was thinking I was just bad in Legion M+ and killed way more than I needed to, but when the Felsong server dropped and had the Legion M+ dungeons active, I found out, yes, most dungeons have you killing almost all the trash for 100%, very little skipping, and wasn't anywhere NEAR as reliant on comp. Many of the BfA and SL dungeons were just not good at all, as they felt they were designed primarily for the MDI, and anyone else was secondary. (Kinda like mythic raids have been for almost their entire existence, with EN being a bit of an outlier because that was just a really easy raid.) - The complete rework to, and purging of, so many specs - along with locking almost all abilities to a spec, not a class - honestly didn't feel _terrible_ at level 100 or 110, and just got better with buffing your artifact weapon, to the point where a fully buffed artifact weapon had some classes play the most fun they ever have, imo(here's looking at you, Arms & Prot Warrior, Disc Priest, and Ele Shaman; and while I'm not personally a fan of the post-WoD version of this spec, I'll throw in ~~Void~~ Shadow Priest, because of how much so many players loved the Voidform/Insanity mechanic), just to remove nearly the ENTIRETY of this borrowed power in the BfA pre-patch. (Not to mention the disappearance of tier sets - a form of borrowed power people didn't really complain about - so we lost even _more_ going into BfA) until the end of SL They added more types of borrowed power, almost all of which were a far bigger misstep than Artifact weapons EVER were. - World quests, on paper weren't too obtrusive in Legion as simply a different way to give players dailies, but with new ones spawning in different zones every hour or two, giving different types of reward, and, of course, Titanforging, world quests became one of the largest chores in WoW since, in all honesty, probably getting attuned to everything up to and including Hyjal in TBC back in 2007. This doesn't feel _as_ impactful in Legion, as a lot of world quests were either extremely quick, or gave a sizeable amount of AP/gold/crafting mats, but "World Quest 2.0" in BfA and SL is a complete slog. - Lastly, being 100% selfish here: Ret paladin's Blade of Wrath talent starting the xpac as a Holy Power generator that left a 6 sec Holy damage DoT on the target - I loved this talent... for about the 5-6 weeks it was in the game. Then, they turned Blade of Wrath into a talent where auto-attacks had a 25% chance to reset the CD of Blade of Justice, which felt a LOT less fun to me. I could expand to make this less selfish by bringing up classes/specs I wasn't playing and didn't experience firsthand - a friend that I raided with in NIghthold, before he found a different guild with better raid times for his job - stopped playing his frost DK when they rotated talents to nerf Breath builds and the suggest play was the machine-scythe build - but this comment is already way too long for handfuls of anecdotes. All this having been said: I still loved Legion for the most part, but I wouldn't play Legion Classic. I already tried to get back into Legion when the Felsong server dropped(progressing from 7.0.3 to 7.3.5, though its running on a 7.3.5 client, with all the tweaks to classes, specs, items, etc. that were active at 7.3.5), and while I find much of Legion's content to hold up just as well as seven and a half years ago(can't believe it has been that long), I'm just not interested in all the weekly(and to a lesser extent, daily) chores and arbitrary time-gating that became so prominent in Legion, but was amplified a thousand fold in BfA and SL. I don't know if I'm less patient, less addicted to the game in _any_ fashion, don't want to go from a fully-fleshed-out artifact weapon to nothing at the end of the cycle, don't want to go back to doing raids that are designed with DBM, BigWigs, WeakAuras in mind, to the point of being horribly designed without the add-ons shouting at you, or just don't want to re-do all those chores and deal with the layers upon layers of RNG again, but it's simply not an attractive prospect. If I could just jump to 110, have at least instantly maxed Artifact Knowledge, artificial time-gating was removed, Titanforging didn't exist and Warforging maxed at +5 ilvl and/or tertiary stats, and I had no problem raiding just normal or heroic *at most* - which I've not had the resolve from EN in 7.0 to CN in 9.0; even if I wasn't enjoying it, I still wanted to push for CE - then I _might_ consider playing Legion Classic, but after quitting retail(and the game provided through Blizzard overall until SoD) shortly before 9.0.5, but none of this would realistically happen, and I'd be bored with the game really quick if I was trying to avoid mythic raiding. (Sorry for the overly long comment.)

Legion to me was the number one expansion I've ever played and I've played since 2008. Wrath is a close second, but when it comes to Legion, the entire narrative of the game was phenomenal. I still hold the Broken Shore scenario as the greatest world event or expansion launch event that I've ever partaken in. I got together with my good WoW friends at the time and when it was done, I said to everyone. "Guys, I have no idea how we're going to pull this off." That's the only time I ever got stumped in WoW, especially being a lore nerd. The Broken Isles were absolutely incredible. Every zone to this day is perfection, Val'sharah is still my favorite zone in the entirety of the game. The Order halls were complete perfection. The Class Campaigns associated with them were perfection, especially since its the only time they had you use your own kit and class moves to progress them differently. (Finally going beyond the Emerald Dream portals as a Druid, Mass Dispelling Tentacles as a Priest, Blinking through Forcefields as a Mage. Using your Enslave Demon to trick Legion guards as a Warlock, Stealth as a Rogue to bypass hazards. Even the Death Knights allowing you to be a Machiavellian styled villain... etc etc.) Its the little things like that. You just didn't have it anymore once BFA came out. It was the only time we really saw such amazing class fantasy. In my honest opinion, they never really should've moved away from it. A class campaign could've been in every expansion following it and the Order Halls could still be relevant. I really don't miss the RNG legendaries and the titanforging, but everything else in the expansion was amazing. It's gonna take a lot of things to really get there again with WoW, but they DO have a standard and it really kind of sucks how Blizzard and Ion are convinced that Legion ruined the game for them, because to me and a lot of other players, it was PEAK Modern WoW. I really hope they one day revisit elements from Legion to make a great WoW expansion and I hope the World Soul Saga does just that.

Great comment! I can understand why Blizzard and ion think that Legion created a dark path for WoW, and it is sadly true. But they are the makers of their own madness. Legion was the bullet, but Blizzard were the ones who pulled the trigger. It didn't have to be this way. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!

Great video mate, well done. I loved Legion but not at first. I went into Legion from an underwhelming WoD where I mostly just did arena and PvP and was maining shadowpriest. I loathed the shadowpriest retooling in the first part of Legion and was very salty about it. I switched to my unholy DK and did the final mythic raiding I've ever done for the first two raids, it was a blast and Nighthold was amazing! It was the last expansion we had a full guild and two raid teams, pvp team etc. (BfA saw us lose half our players and then SL was the nail in the coffin for our guild). I did love Tomb of Sargeras though!!! We had a blast clearing that except for KJ which took us 80 pulls on Heroic hahaha Admittedly I was done mythic raiding by ToS so I never felt that pain. Legion is top three WoW expansions for me, the positive vastly outweighed the negative and IMO was the end of the golden age of WoW, its been all down hill from there.

This hits hard. I don't think I hated the premise of BFA initially but I definitely resonate with the sense of dread you're talking about. The levelling experience in BFA was so bad too; as you gained levels, you grew weaker. Azerite just couldn't compare with the power levels we previously had, and it was such a gruelling experience.

I've played WoW since the very beginning, and while I will ALWAYS have fond memories of playing Vanilla to Wrath with my friends, I agree that Legion was definitely one of the best expansions of the game. It came out at a perfect time when all of my friends were free to play again, and it really felt like old times. The Class Halls, the weapons, every zone of the expansion - it was all excellent. Legion going completely off the rails in terms of damage was also a ton of fun, and it felt great to be an ultra-powerful person. None of the expansions since have given me that feeling of pure power that Legion did, and that's a shame. Legion also came out the same year that Overwatch did, and Blizzard was very well regarded and everyone loved them at the time. I imagine Legion is also fondly remembered because it was the last expansion released before all of the controversies came out that destroyed Blizzard's reputation.
@edd_TV9 ай бұрын
All of my friends came back for it too. A lot of us got really deflated and quit during WoD, which I do regret because Blackrock Foundry was genuinely great, but I felt really tired of playing. Legion revitalised everything. The ultra power was fun too and it felt valid because we were now these great figures of the game: the Highlord, the Deathlord and so on. It made sense for the game to get a bit crazy (but we did pay for this dearly in the BFA levelling experience). That's a great point too. I think Blizzard were still considered very respected at the time and there were no controversies and it still felt like they cared about the playerbase, as opposed to just wanting to line their pockets which seems to prevalent now, with the amount of boosts, mounts on the shop and so on. Really great post, thanks for watching!

Legion was the expansion that finally forced me to get good at the game. Just a quick note, Sephuz`s Secret was actually probably the strongest legendary for Prot Paladin`s as simply starting a pull with Avengers shield was guareteed to proc it, so you basically had Heroism at the start of each pull for 10 seconds, plus 70% increased movement speed, and on longer pulls could proc it again after 30 seconds.

Narratevely, it was amazing, having to obtain the most important weapons, to wield against the Burning Legion and being the head of your respective class faction, just made you feel like you were really a main character, not just an adventurer, lending a helping hand with killing 8 boars. A small thing I really appreciated were the hidden artifact skins, having to wander Azeroth and revisit old raids and such, tied to your artifact's history, to find hidden chambers and questlines and obtaining it, was amazing. Namely Apocalypse and ofc the Ashbringer, having to do the old myths of obtaining the pure Ashbringer in vanilla, however tedious that was. All things considered, Legion was the best we had and have had for a long while and I would love to experience it all again.

Vengeance had the most ridiculous burst dps of any tank spec with fiery brand, not really a tank-specific thing, but it was unique and very fun, especially for world pvp. It also had a lot of cc options that felt great in 15+ dungeons. Havoc was.. the best dps class at soloing heroics, haha, I remember queueing as tank, switching to havoc and telling the healer to respec dps as well. The mobility was also amazing for doing solo content.

I would agree that Legion was WoW's best expansion. I recently paid out $$ for a factory-sealed collector's edition. I also agree with you that Suramar is WoW's best-ever zone, but I was surprised to hear that navigating it on the ground was something you considered a drawback. The gameplay of Suramar only made sense if you had to sneak in on the ground. Flying completely trivialized it. The residents of Suramar, both elf and demon, apparently subscribe to the motto "Don't look up!" Sneaking around in your disguise, watching for guards, taking to the rooftops (my favorite as a demon hunter - felt like Batman)... These were what made Suramar fun and challenging.

Great job on getting a collector's edition! I had no issue with Suramar on foot personally, but I know a lot of people that really struggled with it. I loved how immersive and RPG it all felt. i will never forget how fun mistweaver was in pvp in legion. There was the pvp perk which turned pretty much all healing skills instant cast while channeling soothing mist. Nobody was really using it and because nobody was using it. it was so overtuned. You could heal alone about 3-4 of healers amount in battlegrounds. It was probably the most fun time i've had in the game period.

Man when you go over the plot of legion like this (a lot of it you had to be a completionist to see in full, but it was legit all THERE unlike the other expansions we all complain about having it in external books instead) it sounds amazing for WoW. I don't think any other expansion ever had such a completely coherent plotline that had a pretty sound beginning and end with some really strong story beats. Specifically around Nighthold and how it all ties together into that last pillar and how you need to learn about, and solved the issues of, an entire culture. It felt like it would fit perfectly as a well done single player RPG which is the best praise WoW could ever get. I also used to think of ways the Artifact Weapon thing could have worked going forward as a long term system. There were really two things that mattered when it came to "looting" new weapons. That was getting a skin, and the occasional unique effect on them. They solved the former with unlockable skins, and I guess the passives on them was supposed to be the latter but didn't quite fit that. They could have tied both of these to relics easily. Loot relics, have new ones you introduce in expansions occasionally unlock new skins, also have rare relics with cool passives similar to ones that appear on dropped weapons now. Also implement secondary stats as part of the relics so you didn't just have a set 2 stats forever. Boom, then the weapons would function forever.
@edd_TV9 ай бұрын
I think that's my only crticism storywise. Like you say, unless you were a completionist and had various characters, you wouldn't get the full picture. Like I mention Tirion Fordring's death being forgettable, and that's true if you didn't play a Paladin or a Death Knight for example. It's a double-edged sword I think. It's really cool for the classes to feel important and get special treatment, but other classes may miss out on big moments because of it. I hard agree with you when it comes to storyline being kept inside books and such too. I don't recall if there was a book released prior to Legion. I imagine it was the Illidan novel. But it didn't feel as though you needed it to understand. Like War Crimes for example, if you haven't read that and you go straight into WoD, you just have to roll with the punches and you probably think 'What the hell is going on here?!' I like your thinking with the Artifact Weapons! Thank you for watching and your comment!

It's a very valid criticism. Weapons are a huge draw for a lot of people and really important. It did feel very strange having the same weapon for the entire expansion. I think the artifact weapons are quite polarising for a number of reasons, but mainly the one you mention. I wasn't a big fan of receiving the Ashbringer personally, but I know some players who absolutely loved it. It felt like the artifact weapons were a true shift in our stature as characters. We had gone from being just an adventurer to Highlord's, Deathlord's and so on. And some people just want to be an 'adventurer', helping out and doing what they can.

Legion was amazing content, I loved the leveling, the different zones, the dailys and most of the raids. The only thing that drove me crazy for the first 10 months was, that my main class (Moonkin) needed certain legendarys to be really useful. Sadly I had no chance to stay in my progress guild without them and got first benched for someone that had the luck and then a month later I got kicked out of the roster. So yeah. Overall, Legion was fun, but the Legendary Drop Rate system needed a rework.

That's really sad about your guild, but it was sadly the nature of the beast with Legion. It's a fault of Blizzard for tying the legendaries to RNG, btu also the playerbase for having that attitude. One thing that seems to get forgotten a bit is how the lore is honestly kinda borked. Val'sharah just raised SO MANY questions regarding the issue of Nordrassil, the druids' activity, and night elven civilization in general (were the druids in Val'sharah just chilling while Archimonde torched Ashenvale? Is Moonglade is some provincial regional office of druidism? Did they just chill out while Malfurion chased Illidan across the broken Isles in the Frozen Throne campaign?). The Warden jail in Azsuna has similar bizarre implications (so the Wardens, an organization set up in the aftermath of the Breaking to hold Illidan and some dangerous demonic entities chained up, just apparently just sailed across the fucking ocean to set up a massive underground facility for no discernible reason and then when Maiev later arrived on the Broken Islands to chase Illidan THEY MADE NO CONTACT WHATSOEVER.)
@edd_TV9 ай бұрын
I think they just expect you to overlook things at times, or things are told in books and not the actual game itself, or sometimes they probably just hope you forget about it. I'm trying to mend fences with the lore at the minute. I'm still really miffed with Shadowlands, but I'm trying to just hope they can find a way of turning it into something positive. But your questions here are all valid, and reading them does make you think how some things are just swept under the carpet.

I agree. I think they could have acted with legendaries sooner, but I feel that applies to many aspects of WoW expansions: Covenants in Shadowlands with the 'ripcord' etc. It's just the nature of the beast with Blizzard sadly.
