This is a review of and a conversation about the tier 10 American tech tree heavy fighter, the Lockheed XF-90. This aircraft was an object of desire for me but proved challenging to play. You'll find my usual statistical analyses and comparisons with other planes, but also comments on how I arrived at configuring the aircraft the unusual way I do, along with recommendations for and illustrations of other configurations. Thank you very much for making a video showcasing the XF-90. I had gotten this plane last fall and haven't flown it much yet and had asked you then when you had time to make a video. Well done! Now the next video (when time allows) should be the F-94D. I was able to watch a couple hours of your Sunday streaming of WoWp. As always I thoroughly enjoy your commentary on the state of WoWp. I totally agree with you that the tier 10 bombers are still way too OP, especially the EF-131. I was stuck in a 1 on 1 tier 10 battle in my XF-86A and the EF-131 player just went to 14K feet altitude and cruised around capturing the mines and military bases with impunity to super easy win the battle. There was nothing I could do to ABC as fast as the EF-131 player did. That plane and all mid and upper tier bombers need several nerfs (I wish WoWp was reading this to understand our bomber frustrations... sigh!). There is a player in my clan on the NA server and he routinely flights up with another top NA player and by flying upper tier bombers routinely gets > 95% win in 12+ battles per day (Saturday he had 17 wins out of 17 battles). Bomber spamming at the top end flighted up with a top player flying a fighter (usually a heavy) is such an OP combination that I have to stay off the top end to avoid them when I see them in-game. Yes, it is that bad. Fortunately the NA server doesn't have as many bomber spammer players as the EU server does. I believe your comment to a chat question near the 2 hour time about flying light fighters will not get you very many wins is in error. I routinely fly light fighters to complete my 3 Daily's in a few days. I just checked (26-2-2024 at 6:25 am EST) and my 7 day stats are 67 battles for 86.49% wins and for 28 days is 388 battles for 81.44% wins. I'm currently at 66.59% wins in 18523 battles over a 3 year time span (started March 3 of 2021) so I do very well flying the light fighters > 95% of the time on the NA server. It could be a totally different story on the EU server so that may be why you responded to the question that way. I do see that in many battles you can choose to ignore the human players a lot and take down a bot first. But not here on the NA server. Most human players are targeting the red team human players and as such I must constantly be on the lookout for other red team players and get them before thinking about going after a bot.

I went back and watched your I-17 battle on your Sunday stream and at about the 2:40 time I am in agreement with you about a comment to a new player about win rate. I flew my first year starting at 52% win rate and slowing went up from there. My first summer I flew my I-17 a major amount of time as a newbie player because I wasn't skilled yet and at > 105 maneuverability I could do much better than with other less maneuverable planes. Now that ABCing is of primary importance I don't fly the I-17 any more as the faster planes such as the Bf-109 B or heavies just work better to achieve more wins. Even the Bristol 146 is a better choice than the I-17. GAA and bombers are completely useless to me at the low tiers. All new players should ignore the win rate and focus on learning the quirks of the different WoWp guns and work to get maximum effectiveness with the different fire rates, timing of the gun firing to keep from overheating, learning what the different planes require for leading the target to get hits, etc. As a new player we are all ignorant of which planes to attack and which ones to leave alone until we build up knowledge of the turn rates, firepower, hit points, etc. of a lot of the planes. That can only be achieved by the amount of time playing WoWp so all new players just need to be patient and not rage quit because they have a lower win rate. However, I have encountered players that are < 40% win rates with > 1 K battles and I guess they just want to jump in a battle, shoot down a few planes, and then quit. They don't care at all about winning or tactics or even doing well. To each their own way to have fun here... I guess.

Above all, the high tier bombers need nerfs. If they can't be nerfed, then they should be barred from flights and limited to, at most, two per team per battle. I believe I said, and if I didn't, I most certainly meant, that turn-fighting will not win you many high tier battles. There are fighters that are significant, but not the turn fighters. Bear in mind this refers to the EU server.

Win rate has much less to do with skill and more to do with knowing how to bias games in your favour, principally by flying overpowered planes and flighting up. In my opinion, the WoWp team should remove the 'Hall Of Shame' and hide players' statistics, barring one's own, so that it is not worth anybody's time padding their statistics.

I'm not one for investigating the extremes. Also, I'm pretty sure that there's a limit on the speed in the game and even if, nominally, you have set the plane to go faster than that, it won't. I'll have to check one day.

Funny thing, but in battle I don't feel this "autoaim angle" feature at all. On the contrary, often some enemy plane flies not so fast without maneuvering, I fire from its tail, and about of 1/10 of the DPS is coming through. And the thing you mentioned, when you see sparkles, but the damage is close to 0, happens often lately.

If you mean the in-battle statistics in the top left corner, that's a Russian mod called "My Precious". myprel.ru/ The creators maintain a Discord in which they forbid all discussion of the war in Ukraine, so I judge they're not determined Russian nationalists, which is why I'm comfortable with using this mod. I mention this in case people have other opinions about that.

Thank you! Regarding the credits and XP, all you have to do is play for more than 5 years and be at the end of the game. :) The gold comes from two sources; first, the free crates that come from occasional events and weekend missions, secondly, usually it's the main item in a bundle offering something I want, often a camouflage. I have had much, much more in the past!

Yes, it is. Technically, it's at least 3 bots per team, but at prime time it's more likely to be 5 or 6 per team.
