So anyways I started blasting

Against that carrier alone, from first shell to last, in about 70 seconds landed about 230 hits (not sure how many were misses. Not many) according to the counter. I realize it's just a game but that is so far outside of reality, so exaggerated, it's actually pretty darn funny. The actual type 98 gun the Akizuki carried fired about 20-22rpm per gun (about a 4in projectile) and she carried 8 guns for a total optimal combined ROF of ~176 rpm so a little over half of what this thing can do in the game. It's even funnier when, if I remember right, most destroyers only carried a few hundred rounds for their main battery. The idea of a destroyer soloing a carrier like that with machine gun canons alone was pretty darn funny to watch (even funnier was him r*ping those battleships with little 4 in guns earlier on). In reality, an actual example of destroyer guns vs a carrier: at Santa Cruz, USS Hornet was crippled by Japanese air attack and abandoned. The US Navy fired 9 torpedoes at her (given that US torpedoes kinda sucked early on not all of them detonated) and over 400 5in rounds from a couple of US destroyers and still couldn't sink her. It took 4 more Japanese long lance torpedoes to finally put her down. And this was all in addition to the damage she took in the preceding battle that crippled her.
