World of Warships Blitz - Dutch cruiser "De Zeven Provinciën" review

Well, by now you all probably know what this thing is capable of, since I'm about a week late with the review. But hey, it's a new mechanic - A-10... I mean, "level bomber" air strike. We may see a full line at some point, but for today, it's the new premium. And, to be honest, it's not actually the daisy cutter gimmick that I find most hilarious in this thing...

Rear turrets also rotate 360 degrees? Very useful. And yes, the history of the 7 provinciën started at the time the VOC was active and was an cooperation to improve trade and annoyance to the British 🤪

I went for dispersion, propulsion, and steering gear for my De Zeven Provincien which is standard. Even De Zeven Provincien almost the same AA as Wooster.

I'm playing the hell out of her with captain bonuses in both slots trying to get there and figure it out myself but I figured you could do it faster with the press account.

Seen a few of these ghosting about.. I was 'bombed' by one, tough to keep spotted. It is like you say, they occupy well! Tough to spot & you can't just ignore it so you have to run it down. Difficult if it's covered by its team well...

Yep. The alpha damage isn't great, but over time, they can get _really_ annoying. Easy to focus down, and no smokes or torps like RN CLs - one of those prime targets for heavy cruisers.

Terry the de Zeven provinciën is the second Dutch ship in the game if I'm correct. First it was the Friesland but she falls under the European tech tree as a premium dd

I went on a TWO hour rampage with an online friend who also had a De Zeven. We did suffer a couple losses because some battleships like a CERTAIN Iowa did a suicide charge to ruin our formation and took me out, allowing the whole enemy team to be able to push at last. THE REST OF THE MATCHES however, absolute bloody dominance and Air superiority. Having a third guy running a bb to help focus and take out BB's trying to run just made things beautiful. If any carrier gets into range, 3 solid hits with it can pretty much almost kill an aircraft carrier. Even indomitable aircraft is like a fly to be shot down by this bloody cruiser. Absolutely love it. Edit: Not to mention you can just use the planes to scout briefly just for the heck of it and located an enemy's position while all smoked up and friggen air strike the crap out of their location in the smoke. Though bomb rng's aren't to kind as it's hard to kill an enemy cruiser alone, let alone a dd without backup since Bombs may miss and you'll get a measly 4 bomb hits due to rng.

The AA is ridiculous. I don't think the tech tree lines will have that (I hope not), it's more of a "Friesland" situation. This thing has no alpha damage however, she relies on being left alone (or clever positioning). In most cases, a couple of well-placed BB or even 203mm salvos can make short work of her.

Hi Terry! How is the new house business going? I hope everything is going according to your plan! Thank you for the historic background on the DZP. It is very interesting to watch and hear the narratives! 'Daisycutter' and that A10 cannon strafe run sound.... You certainly reminded me of my old World in Conflict times circa late 2000s! 😄 I am not a fan of using the daisycutter at all for any serious plays. I much prefer the Soviet's thermobaric bomb whenever I needed to clear any tightly packed urban area buildings in any public server random games 😁. Oh, and did you happen to just copy and paste that strafe sound from the game as well? Because it really sounds very similar to me 😄 About the DZP ship. I acquired the ship solely on the basis of its AA alone. I aim to collect and play all ships that have excellent AA values, followed by ships that set frequent fires best. I think if you add extra 3% value to your final calculation you might get even more than 600 basic continuous AA value before you even trigger DfAA skill. Thats indeed hilarious on a t8 ship. Cheers! House plans are coming along slowly. We've got all the external and internal details to sort out, floor, lights, tiles & doorknobs - it's a bit daunting. But hopefully we've got a complete plan soon and the permits, and can get started. The strafing sound was from a random vid off YT :) 2000s were a gaming break for me, I used to play heaps in the late 80s and 90s, and sort of started again in the mid-2010s. The AA is a bit ridiculous. You're right, I didn't even include the 3% from the extra AA ammo. I don't play CV, mostly, so not usually an issue, but that thing is "avoid, and direct team to concentrate fire on".

I had the pleasure to play and carry you yesterday in my FDG. I messaged you after the game but to my big surprise....the private in game chat wasn't working. I was only able to carry that game because of your very useful brawling guides without them I wouldn't know how to play correctly with German ships. Before them I used to hate with a passion playing with the entirety of the German BB line but nowadays is my favorite line by far and you have a lot to do with that. PD: I wish you could upload your pov of that game. :)

Sorry, I wasn't recording at the time. It was me & Roon against Fletcher & Mino, took some doing, we lost Roon early, but in the end, C cap secured. Sorry for taking the kill on the Moskva, I was just spamming Benham torps in the general direction. Definitely your carry, I wouldn't have had time to do anything in the middle.

Ah, did you put some shots into Mino? Nice. I did get him with torps in the end, but Benham isn't well suited to dealing with that thing 😜 I haven't tried the Z44 yet, just catching up with the last two weeks.

Ha, good point. Shows that I'm not a CV player that I missed those skills :) I don't think citadel strike, since they're HE bombs, probably, but the dive bomber skill might be interesting. I don't know if that applies to RN CV carpet bombers, either.

@@FunandGameswithTerry in my experience the Enterprise also has HE bombs but from time to time I get registered citadel strike with those bombs. So far it seems that the Enterprise' HE bombs is the only HE based bombs which is capable of occasional citadel strikes.

I mean, H class battleships was a literal Successor of the Bismarck and they went for the design type of the alphabet. Also, Bismarck happens to be a City in the U.S., Specifically the Capital of North Dakota.

I thought the air strike can only be used 3 times in the game (like consumables), but it actually works like dive bombers of carriers. Also noticed that the rear turret seem to be 360.

The ship seems fun, unfortunately RNG had other plans and I unfortunately only got the camo. Also, 510 small caliber AA. What in tarnation. She has more AA than a Halland or Wooster. Token events are either a blessing or a brutal beating. Kijkduin and Eendracht are tech tree ships in the Dutch techline that will probably arrive around the end of 2022.

i love this ship. I find a nice place to hide and rain down bombs from above. I always seek out BB's and CV;s and stay away from the other ships, they are just too quick and maneuver too much for me to be successful. I average 60K+ with this ship

Montana has 518 points on the small calibre, but with a 1.8km instead of 2.4km range. The thing is, with def AA up, DZP does over 1000 points of damage with the small calibre alone, and the range can be boosted to almost 3km. I'd say, even with the slightly inferior long range, this thing has better AA than Monty.

So far in my experience of going against her, DZP is quite a pain to deal with when playing BBs or DDs Battleships dont have the manuverability to dodge airstrikes and you are going to suffer when a DZP decides to tunnel vision you with airstrikes, i had the misfortune of encountering one while playing vladivostok of all things and the guy kept striking me almost nonstop For destroyers, yes you can dodge airstrikes with ease but they can spot just like regular CV planes, an airstrike sent at just the right time can absolutely screw over DDs while they arent in the right place So far a cruiser is the best thing for dealing with DZPs, a good amount of cruisers at T8 can comfortably outgun her and they are also manuverable enough to evade her airstrikes

The RNG makes it really hard to deal with DD's with air strikes. I tend to stay away fro DD's unless they smoke up and hide. THEN I proceed to bomb that position to hell to flush em' out :D

Yeah, T8 means Hipper, Mainz, Roon, hell even an Edinburgh could rush this thing. I think for DDs, it's either "avoid" or rush & take out. I have yet to encounter one in battle, but in skilled hands, they'd surely be hard to handle. I don't play CV much, so at least in that regard, not an issue :)

The air strike is pretty deadly against BBs. If you start getting hit by that, stop pushing. It's only a 10km range. Force her to come out into the open, encourage your team to focus fire. Certainly on my kill list when I see one :)

now we all know why WG kept trying to sell the Ise in recent months. Ise is a total joke compared to this ship... and when a ship has unlimited, invincible bombers like this one does, why bother to use a carrier anymore?

range, probably? I don't play CV much, and Ise certainly isn't an easy ship to play (unlike on PC, where I hear she's a bit of a nightmare). But DZP is certainly not invincible, and the air strikes are all but useless against DDs (although they spot). Still, a very strong ship, and one that should be taken out early (just like Smolensk or Friesland).

The AA is a bit ludicrous, tbh. I don't think it'll be nerfed, but I've left some feedback in that regard. She needs skilled positioning to be effective, and the level bombers are pretty useless against anything but BBs, so I don't think it's going to be too bad. Bit of a Friesland / Smolensk situation - OP ships in the right hands, but if they sit still in their smoke, they're Hindi fodder (in this case, if I see these things around more, I'd be tempted to bring out the Hipper).

This is way too op Why am i saying so? You can sit untouchable behind an island and burn down ships almost 10km away, safer play then a smolensk or chappy to stay same tier With cv its wooster level of no fly zone wich is also a bit much if you compare to other aa cruisers like cleveland.. 3 charges of bombers is 1 too much or reload too fast.. if the line is same or even get smoke this game will change a lot if you dont yolo this ship at the start you can also close the app.. Solution reload and or one less charge of bombers, premium commander to bump back to 3 charges but significant reduction somewhere else Bomber are only attacked or actually hit by aa very short window, thats bs, also its always fires .. With detection module you can kite and burn down bb without ever being spotted, not that its easy to counter kiting he spammer in the first place..

Yeah, the AA is over the top. She's certainly not without counter - a few well-placed shots, or a precise cruiser, can do some serious damage to this thing. But in skilled hands, it's a "priority focus fire" target. I've given according feedback to WG.
