Im not a teacher but when playing a cruiser (I don't use cruisers im a BB main) try to aim for one of the funnels on a ship that's were the citadel is for torps you have to predict unless its a slow BB then just fire at the cone but don't be to far even the slowest and less agile ships can dodge torps if youre to far, cruisers and DDs you have to predict or you'll get close to them and torp you'll have a harder time hitting DDs tho
