TheBabytrooper Dude, get escorted by a fucking Cruiser. If you got one Carriers can't hit shit. Source: I play carriers. When a cruiser hits aircraft with it's AA the planes lose all accuracy. The aiming reticle is something like 4x larger. Cruisers will save your ass sooo much. It however, does not affect fighters at all. Just a misc thing there.

Scootlez that will only happen if the cruisers activated his AA Barrage skill, if that's happened I'd like to choose another target or just fly away for about 40 seconds and the reticle would be normal again. Although it's seriously just a waste of planes if the one escorting is baltimore/des moines, especially with Japanese carrier who has 4 planes in each squadron (5 with air superiority captain skill)

Arleran I would like to mention that your carriers are also likely to shoot down this kind of spam, especially the american carrier. Those fighters will obliterate anything in the air. And if a cruiser is escorting a Battleship and uses that skill, there is no way more than a couple bombs will hit home, and they will lose a LOT of aircraft for attacking. Especially dive bombers which need to go directly over a target to damage it, and stay there for at least a couple of seconds.

Matthew Price hold down the alt key and you can drop them manualy. pretty handy if you want to drop them closer to the ship, but not too close otherwise they wont be armed when they hit.

Andrew Payoyo from my experience so far the AI torp attack is 50-50 effective. When we have too many groups to manage like we saw in Baron's video it is impossible to do it manually. Maybe you can take manual control of one group but you have to let the AI control the rest. I also notice that the AI adjust attack pattern depending on how the target turns. When attacking fast moving DDs I usually let the AI do the attack and with quite good results. Instead of dropping the torps in parallel lines like in manual drop, the AI will drop their torps in a criss-cross pattern which is hard to avoid. When you have 2 groups dropping torps from both sides it creates a web of torps. BTW, I only started playing CV after the 3.1 patch. So maybe they have improved the AI.

Richard Smith Neither of them beach themselves. Musashi sunk in Battle of Leyte Gulf, and Yamato sunk during operation Ten-Go. However Yamato had orders to protect Okinawa at all costs, including orders to beach herself and act as an unsinkable gun emplacement and continue to fight until destroyed. However she never got that far, she was spotted and sunk on her way .

Baron, do you know that you can put your fighters on CAP (Combat Air Patrol) duty. Basically it is escort duty in the game. Select a fighter and left click any friendly unit (ship or planes). You can click on your own carrrier too. The fighters will automatically intercept any enemy planes that approach your ship/planes that they are escorting.

Oh I dunno if you saw my comment on the earlyer video (the one where you went through the IJN carriers) but I have some updates on the tier X carriers. The Hakuryu is an inexsitant ship and historically incorrect. As I said before the known vessels to come next in the tier must be the Kaga-class (Kaga and Akagi), the Unryu-class (e.g. Unryu and Amagi) and lastly the Yamato-class or Shinano-class carrier. My wild-guess is that 'Hakuryu' is a made up name for a Unryu-class carrier that was never laid down (since the Japanese Navy had planned to build 14 of those to relplace all older models of carriers (exept Kaga/Akagi) with the Shinano as a flagship to the carrier-fleet) and only 3 were ever build (with 3 three being still built on at the end of the war). Great gameplay anyway :) Cheers mate ;)

How does Baron adjust the angle of his torpedo bombers while using auto attack? As he is instructing each squadron to attack a ship, there is a line between the plane's current position and its engaging position when in will be in range of the ship. And he rotates that engaging position. He isn't manually positioning torpedo launch, he is doing something else. Can anyone tell me how to do this? 2:25

Hey Baron, was wondering when we might see some American Carrier play or at least a review on what you think about them? So far I'm very unimpressed but I'm only on the Independence so far. My favorite squadron load is 2x fighters because I feel like I help the battle most when I kill as many of the enemy torpedo bombers as I can, but reward wise, I feel like the reward is extremely low for killing enemy aircraft with my fighter aircraft. This carrier, really, was the Shinano, with the hull of the third twin brother of the Yamato. Sunk by a US submarine in 1944, the USS Archerfish, with 4 torpedos.

Cpt Morgan I believe the Hakuryu represents the G-15 carrier project; it was designed to be an upgraded Taiho, with improvements to aircraft capacity, AAA defense, and armored protection. The Shinano didn't have an enclosed bow and stern, and had a hull form identical to the Yamato battleships. I'm kind of curious why they didn't use the Shinano as the Japanese rank 10...perhaps they're planning a second carrier line? =/

JamesPolymer I know this comment 2 weeks ago, but Shinano wasn't meant to be the aircraft carrier, she is a battleship, Shinano can only carry 47 planes and due to her heavy weight and terrible speed, through IJN hope she can carries 80-90 aircrafts, but suffer heavy weight, serious flaw designs and incomplete parts. Anyway, in techtree upgrade which mean your CV will have better armor, speed, more AA guns and carriers more planes, not have weak armor, slow speed, less AA guns and carriers less planes like Shinano, beside she probably an premium CV in the future.

AlexNguyen138 As far as I know, the Shinano was intended more as a floating forward airbase to repair/rearm planes from other carriers. The idea was that this heavily-armored (she boasted a 7-inch belt) ship bristling with AAA would be a tougher nut to crack than a standard fleet carrier, and would keep the pressure off said CVs to avoid a repeat of Midway. The 47 planes she carried were meant for self-defense rather than offensive strikes. The IJN had a series of carriers that were converted from other ships such as the _Hiyo-_ class, as well as a proposed full conversion of the battleship _Ise_; I figured if they made a second Japanese carrier line, the Shinano would be a natural end point. If they do, here's hoping they give us the version with all water-tight doors installed. ;-)

JamesPolymer Shinano carry 47 planes not for self-defensive it mean to provide additional support for other attack squadrons. Cause when you playing IJN side, coordinating with other squadrons can effectively hammering enemies ships. Shinano possessed with lotta AA guns so she don't have to worry about aerial attacks, so you should use her planes to support attacks rather defensive. Cause IJN said:" There is no honor in defensive, cause they're for the pussy yanks" :)))

AlexNguyen138 Forgive me, but all sources and documentation I have seen indicate that the Shinano would not have carried a strike air group of her own; any aircraft she embarked were for defense against enemy planes. As a front-line floating air base she would be a primary target for Allied airstrikes, hence a strong fighter screen to protect her while the aircraft from other carriers were rearmed/refueled.

Now just imagine someone manual dropping all that. I don't have to because I've had it done. There is no dodging. You can see them coming from KMs away and you will still eat 25-50% of the torps and bombs and with that dpm you are dead no matter what ship you are in. The only hard counter to the Haku is hope there is a halfway decent CV player on your team who you can convince to kill it early on.

The Japanese had captured a British 40mm Bofors gun when they overran Singapore, and by 1945 they had gotten their own version to the prototype stage. So if the war had lasted long enough for a ship like this to exist, they might have loaded it with Bofors guns.

WG is weird. Contrary to the game, on average, US squadrons are actually smaller than the Japanese counterpart but had more squadrons. That's because on average, US air groups are split in to 4 roles, scout bombers, torpedo bombers, dive bombers, and fighters. The Japanese do not use scouts until late war with the development of the C6N which was to late to be used on carriers anyways. and thus for the majority of the war, escorting cruisers conducting scouting operations. Due to the lack of a dedicated scouting squadron, they only had 3 distinct squadron but larger due to the fact space is not diverted to scouts. But this is ignoring that on average, US carriers had larger complement and some carriers carried more than one squadron of a certain role.

Also the Japanese used a modified version of the french Hotchkiss auto cannons. They are called Type 96 25mm AA guns. They are relatively short ranges because of the small caliber and their small magazine reduced their rate of fire significantly. Any mountings other than the singles were too cumbersome to track fast aircrafts.

Can anyone please tell me if there is a way to know the tier level of your enemy or allies when playing a random battle? It's annoying not knowing how strong either your enemy or allies are. You can see the ship type but not tier level and it makes playing so annoying and leaves no option but to play negatively.

press tab for team overview. The ship tier lvl is next to the ship class, they are shown in roman numeral, X for tier 10 for example. If you dont know Roman numeral you should learn it right now.
