“In the past 15 years, there have been some 750 attacks on journalists and news outlets reporting on environmental issues,” shares UN Secretary-General António Guterres, citing UNESCO data in his 2024 video message for World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on 3 May.
This year's observance is dedicated to the importance of journalism and freedom of expression in the context of the current global environmental crisis.
