Yeah this doesn’t really say much at all honestly. I mean look at that insane amount of tail wind! If that’s the way you want to play it then game on! Me and my group occasionally play at a location that consistently gets 15-25 mph tail winds and on some days it’ll howl at an insane 35-55mph+ steady. I guarantee you me and/or other people in my party will crush that record throwing there when the winds are really blowing!!! Many people, including myself have already thrown well over 700ft (mistakenly) on hole 16 which is 678ft away but due to the crazy amount of wind it gets carried much MUCH further sometimes. What about big downhill slopes? That will help BIGTIME with distance as well. You can’t say it’s an unfair advantage either as you had one yourself with all that tail wind. One advantage can’t be different than the other!

Wind is a factor in disc golf. That’s just how it is. If you’re going to go for a record, use all elements to your advantage. Why wouldn’t you?.

The point is, that was the longest a disc has ever been thrown. No matter what condition! If someone thinks they can throw one farther, then go get a lighter disc on a windier day, or a heavier disc on a calm day,and then you will be the new record holder. Any condition, any disc any weight, it does not matter. If anyone can throw one further the deserve to be the World Record holder. Dave Wiggins Jr. is very talented and you shouldnt be down paying this incredible throw.

These comments make my brain hurt. No, this doesn't look anything like a controlled golf shot, and its not supposed to. Dave can throw golf shots in excess of 600 feet, I've seen it in person. These kind of competitions are for fun/records/bragging rights. There are maybe 5 people in the world with the ability to throw that far in the same conditions, stop hating

It's FAR better than I could do! Enjoyed watching it and would encourage you others to post your own throws. The bikers were right by where it landed. I'm sure they could see the mark of impact on the dry lake bed. The previous world record was thrown in 20-24mph winds. David's throw was during a 14.5 mph wind.

Actually, he's correct. Sort of. Tail wind does force the disc down, which is opposite from a head wind. But in the vid, you can tell around 1:10 when he is digging in his bag that the wind is coming from behind him, making it a L-R wind.

This is a world record. End of story. He has thrown one of those Bosses over 820 several times. This is just the first time that happened in a sanctioned distance event. He broke the record. If he had only beaten it by a few feet, maybe you could complain. But over 10 feet? 15, even? Don't go there. This guy is legit. A friend of mine. The record was not ruined. It was shattered.

I, personally, use a Sidearm/Forehand throw. With that, (using some middle-of-the-line distance driver), I can squeeze in about 550 in good conditions. I've gotta say, as a 15 year old, with only one Disc, going Disc golfing once a week at best, I'm fairly impressed with myself. But honestly, props to this guy. I realize the record is broken by Simon Lizotte, but it takes some serious technique to get that kind of distance.

What height is the wind being measured at? Is it that stand 2 feet off the ground close to the throwing line. If so, that is being measured way to low. Official wind measurements are taken at 10 meters.

Sandstrom got a 25mph tailwind for his 250 meter throw a decade ago, why shouldn't Wiggins get a tailwind too? Wiggins actually had less of a tailwind than Sandstrom did, so I don't see any reason you'd be complaining except for ignorance. There is a reason Sandstrom's record held for two weeks short of a decade; he set it in absolutely ideal conditions. That is, a strong tailwind (again, much stronger than Wiggins got when he broke that record).

Just wanted to huck this out there. They are in a desert plain with 15+ mph winds, any 'divot' left in sand would be gone in a VERY short amount of time due to the wind. Was a beast throw but.. i mean... perfect wind, perfect area, light as shit discs. Just throw it high as shit with an Any on it and watch it go in that element. Sandstrom threw 820 with a DX Valyrie. Dunno detas on weight but pretty impressive. I wanna see a no wind distance record throw.

I think that these throws are alittle bias as the wind was quite strong. There needs to be some kind of rule where the wind has to be much less. Otherwise the wind is doing too much of the work. I agree with the "leaf in the wind" analogy. Nice technique though. Find it hard to believe that this guy is only 16. good effort.

His flexibility must be good to be a 650+ft. thrower in normal conditions. It just requires enough torque and strength - it's pretty hard. I obviously don't know a proper translation in javelin distance just by watching this, but .....(I threw in javelin in high school and college), and I saw guys throw 240ft. Wiggins has this speed and athleticism. He obviously can throw the javelin over 200ft. I'll bet he could throw at least 250ft., maybe a lot more.

No, big waves are necessary for a surfing contest, but wind is not necessary or even desirable for disc golf (more like rain for a baseball game). I'd say the conditions actually discredited the "record." If you disagree, maybe you should throw a driver in a hurricane, then you too could brag about your throwing prowess.

in most sports a tailwind like they were throwing in would disqualify the record, you can tell by their clothing the wind is substantial, probably a lot more than 14 mph at the height he threw the disc. At these desert distance comps the style is to throw a bombing anhyzer as high as you can, it doesnt work without the wind and it shouldnt count as a record

Ok so he's good at throwing for distance but can he actually throw at a basket accurately? Anyone can throw for distance (although not nearly as far) but it takes real preparation to hit a basket from 2-300 ft. That 360 he does before letting go won't get him far when aiming at a target, he's just blindly throwing it.

I'm not a distance driver by any means. But I can definitely slice through trees, and hit chain from 50+' so lets see him through the woods on an actual course. Innova does make some sweet disc..my pro katana driver and r-pro dart putter keeps me well under par..happy disc golfing all
