I just beat TOTK in 78 hours since release. Including sleeping, my longest break from playing was 6 hours. Time will spent. Best Zelda yet!

To me it is impressive he (or speedrunners in general) pull this off right away once leaving the sky isles, with what little stuff you have. I just finished the game "too early" today on my first playthrough, by going underneath the castle, wondering what was there. I kinda guessed that the final boss fight would be there and I was prepared to die.. but... I did not. At that point I only finished one of the dungeons. I think, me farming the floating colosseum for silver lynel parts and bows made me way too strong xD.

As soon as I got the glider I had 3 hearts with a handful of weapons and I dived head first right under the castle. By some miracle I made it all the way to the gauntlet of enemies. I thought It was just gonna be one wave! It took me so long to beat them but I finally did it. But then when I saw the lizards start spawning in i lost all hope and died…. Lol

Unless you went to the demon statue, that would be impossible as you need to get a 4th heart to open the door on great sky island.

You don't need the 4 hearts .. you can use acend ability in the water near the paddle wheels just before the room

I agree this game has a worse menu system than in Breath of the Wild. It takes a while to move to your preferred item attachment for arrows and it takes an extra second to switch to different weapons and shields in the quick menu. All I'm sure was done to patch out the quick shield and weapon swapping tech from the first game (cause as we know if the game becomes "too fun" to do something that's a bad thing to Nintendo). Its just amazing we are denied something as important as quick weapon swapping because its "getting in the way" of SOME players abusing the hell out of it in unintentional ways that the developers didn't think about. Its really bullshit and I don't understand it. Its been the single most frustrating thing in this game for me.

I find there's a glitch progression a lot of the time. Usually, the longer it takes a glitch to be discovered, the more broken it is. And, if such a bug takes so long to be discovered that it could span both BOTW and TOTK's development cycles without being caught... Chances are it could be present in both games and be a major game changer.

It is such a good touch to the fight that calls back to how the game begins, plus it doesn’t affect the rest of the game at all because once you step into the ring with Ganon there’s no getting out without beating the game or dying. …At least until someone finds out how to leave the Ganon fight through some crazy insane glitch bs

so they put gloom around the seized construct so that you wouldn't fight it without mineru going from how it struggled to hit a link sized object with it's attacks. but i didn't even know you could damage it without mineru and thought you would at the very least have to do the soul dungeon

I feel like this run will transform into being depth-centric. You avoid a lot of the world down there, can get zonaite to craft vehicles (if you get autobuild) and there’s some ascend points that might be faster. I’m excited to see how they do this.

You talking about how BOTW speedrunning knowledge won't transfer over really made me think about why I prefer glitchless runs above all else. Watching someone clip through a shrine in Breath of the Wild may be technically impressive, but it's not really a mastering of a game's mechanics, movement, or combat. TOTK not having many glitches makes the speedruns seem much more impressive since players actually have to be competent at the game itself rather than competent at exploiting developer oversights.
