Fun fact: because no one had ever gotten a perfect 10.00, the designers gave the scoreboard space for only three digits ( ex. 9.87). So when Nadia got her score back, it displayed as a 1.00, which you can see in the video.

In my opinion, I think she did get a perfect 10, it's just a different way of representing it. They represented it in percentages. How? You may ask Decimals can also show percentage, like 0.78 for example, it is 78%. In order to get the percentage, they first tally up all of the judges' ratings. Then divide it by the perfect score itself. For example, we have 3 judges and 2 gave 9 while 1 gave 8, we add them all before we divide it by the total score of 30. 9 + 9 + 8 = 26 Now we divide it by the perfect score. 26 ÷ 30 = 0.866 (0.87 if estimated) After this, we multiply it by 10 0.87 × 10 = 8.7 Therefore, the avg score is 8.7 In conclusion, the girl in the video actually got a perfect average score of 10 (100%).

Nadia Comăneci!!! The first EVER gymnast that had a PERFECT score at only 14 in Montreal! Nicknamed "Little Miss Perfect" for her ice cold precision and serious face. In Romania her nickname is "Zeița de la Montreal", which would translate to "The goddess from Montreal". As a fellow Romanian, we are very honored to be the country of origin of one of the best gymnasts.

That is cool even noting that humans are stupid about judging on this sport, and with rules. For example, when younger it's apparently easier. So they banned a 12 yr old who was posing as a 17 yr old once from China, even though she did the routine properly. So it's fair because they have the same requirements for everyone but yea at 14 I'd still apply that sort of age gap rule; if she can do it again and win medals at like 17-18 then go for it. Not taking away any difficulty from the sport but it's just physics and honestly a skilled kid can do flips, climb, apply spins, and a few dynamics, a lot more easier than an adult can. It's simply laws of physics and weight. Some people lose that ability to climb and do things that they did easily as a kid, and it's the same reason.
