@@thomasshelby7507 I understand what you're all saying but most just don't care. I'm given a new car as a company vehicle every 3 years (currently a 330e M Sport) and clean it once a week in automated car washes as it is just convinient - swirls can be the owners problem 10 years down the line. Even if I cared - one day of work is worth £250. If I spent one day a fortnite cleaning it over 10 years because I was worried a business or personal vehicle might not look as good its a massive waste of time and effort. I can bring it to you guys and have it paint corrected before resale etc. for a fraction of that lost income. It's not always ignorance - just convince and speed. Massive respect for detailers and their trade though. Plus, as others have said, gives you loads of business.

Same here. Professionally, I offer high quality wash jobs to semi trucks, and always tell people how damaging car washes are to your paint. But my car is 8 years old, and the last thing I want to do after hand washing cabs all day is to go home and wash a car for free. If I had an expensive car, sure. But a $4k Ford Fusion? Nah.

Years ago as an Englishman working in Germany I treated my nice new Mitsubishi Colt turbo to a car wash. I was 19 and it was my first car. I was completely blown away seeing a group of highly efficient detailers leap on my dirty car, I paid for the full monty and it was an absolute pleasure to watch. This was in the 80s and to my knowledge we didn't have anything like this in England at that time.

Of course nothing is softer on your car than hand washing, but honestly, this car wash is amazing and really much better than your usual gas station car wash. I used to go there quite a lot and never noticed any swirls (other than the one time I went somewhere else). The quick pressure-pre-wash gets off a lot of the debris that mainly causes those dreaded swirls. Also, other than most car washed, they regularly wash the cloths in the car wash so they don't even get the chance to collect as much dirt as others. For the interior cleaning they won't even reuse a cloth for a second car but toss it in the laundry bin and get a clean one every time. Thoroughly hand washing your car with a sponge that wasn't properly cleaned might actually do more damage to your paint than this "paint swirl factory" as some here call it. I always love to do to Mr Wash, although I have to admit, watching a couple of probably not very highly paid people clean out my car feels a bit condescending.

I like detailing and hand washing but for 90% of the world they just want their car cleaned. As far as everyday car washes go I’m very impressed. Massive operation.
@justanotherstoner6176
@justanotherstoner6176 2 жыл бұрын
Just clean involves hand washing and detailing, your average car wash doesn't do shit and the brushes that scrub the car usually leave scratches in the paint. If you spend time detailing you'll notice no car that comes out of a car wash is just clean, far from clean just gets some wet work done at the cost of shredding your paint. The best way I can explain it is getting a half ass exterior wash and still having door jams, windows, wheels, wheel wells, and interior to clean and that's over half the car lol

Hey guys, I actually live near this car wash. And I can say that us germans only really use it when we're short on time. And the interior cleaning they do is actually pretty rad not gonna lie xD But in general we're so obsessed with our cars that we wash them ourselves in "self cleaning stations" (basically pressure washers with drains). Washing your car in your driveway is actually illegal here, because of environmental laws. Cheers from Stuttgart!

This seems really cool and high tech but i would never take my car to there or any place like that because the chemicals they use are bad for the car and often are cheap products or else it would cost too much, they are alkaline and acidic which can ruin car paint over time but they use it so it is easier to remove stuck dirt and grime etc. The contact wash is even worse because the microfibre spinning things dont get cleaned leaving dirt and abrasive substances stuck on them causing swirls and scratches on the car paint which look terrible. Car washing and detailing takes time and 30 seconds is not quality work, it is just for people who want express cleaning who dont really care about their car. also exposing a car to high tempuratures after a cold wash is also not good. I dont know why there are many luxury and expensive cars going there but they will soon realised what these automatic washing systems do to the cars. If you really care about you cars, please take them to a experienced car detailer or wash it by yourself with correct methods.

If the numbers are correct, 1 Melkus with 7 employees washes 3000 cars every year. With around 48 000 000 cars registered in Germany you would need 112 000 people working at carwashes to wash every car only once a year. Multiplying by 6 to wash every car every two months gets you 672 000 people working at Melkus-like carwashes, which is about 1.64% of all German workforce.

They should show the swirl marks on the paint afterwords! I bet they don’t even correct the paint properly when applying their “ceramic coating”
@virtualcircuit
@virtualcircuit 3 жыл бұрын
Its the opposite in Europe, the automated car washes use loads of water so don't leave swirl marks and keep the brushers clean. You are actually more likely to get swirls with a cheap detailer who ends up rubbing dirt into the body (its common to have eastern Europeans offer cheap hand washes that totally ruin your paintwork).
@Joshwake
@Joshwake 3 жыл бұрын
@@virtualcircuit you’re still going right behind a dirty car who’s brushes are dirty from that car. A properly done wash will leave minimal swirls with the 2 bucket method. Are you really trying to compare a red light car wash done by an Arab to a 2 bucket hand wash?
@grossmeister1181
@grossmeister1181 3 жыл бұрын
@@Joshwake Sure, it will give some slight swirl marks, but an average hand wash will give a lot worse scratches. Many people just don’t know how to wash their cars. So better chose a decent automatic car wash.

@Jr V preach bro I have a detail company too. Just did a disaster detail on a huge lifted missing truck. Was never cleaned on the inside had solidified sun flower seed spit inside the door panels, hot mud caked everywhere on the inside outside. I did a full interior detail steam cleaning carpet extraction etc and exterior wash and clay with full paint correction on a huge truck for 300$ took almost 10 hrs guy still complained the I didn’t get the inside of his massive missing truck absolutely perfect. I’m going to have to just start turning down huge Disgusting jobs like that. Bc it is extremely hard to get those vehicles back and I’m tired of doing them. For every great 10 details you have one like that and would rather not take those jobs anymore

@Jr V At least i like how professional they work there, every process is optimized, even additional services like a oil change - the customer there gets also the security that the exact fitting oil is filled - and that for a discount price. With this level of perfection, they also make at the end good money - win/win situation for the company and the customer.

If he uses his own vehicle to test the car wash, every single day, he probably owns a car paint job business too. I guess he get's a sealant job everyday as well. Cool video. But I'm skipping to the end at 5 minutes. I only like the drying process. (I lied - I like the technology involved, now I'm stuck) Great contrast between the two services. Both have their place for the various customers. I've gained a new respect for the men & women who do these jobs. I watched the whole dang thing. wow. Must be Saturday late afternoon.

Yes that price is wild. Without a ceramic coating to have your paint polished in my area is $500+. I actually bought a dual action polisher and do it myself once a year. There's nothing difficult about the process but doing it correctly does take many hours. The prep is the key, the actual polishing is pretty simple. Right tool, right pads, right compound and polish and it's just guiding a machine around your car.
