Depending on how long he and his wife have been married, they might have long ago had a heart to heart about his role as a sniper (since his deployments were 11-13 years ago). I would like to think he didn't just tell his wife he was going to fight as a volunteer for Ukraine and left a couple of days later...that there was a long talk about how his hard-won skills could go a long away in helping to make Russia pack up and go home. That he had to do something now to maybe delay or even stop WW3 by making it too costly for Russia to fight and back down.

My daughter is a weapons tech and works on sniper rifles most use 50.cal and 338 lapua from Sweden. Canadian snipers regularly practice at extreme ranges in all weather .

I try to tell people this. We have one of the most diverse landscapes and some of the most unpredictable weather patterns. From deserts, rain forests, & tundra to arctic regions. Our navy operates on the Atlantic coast where we have the most powerful tides in the world. It's not out of the ordinary to have fog, rain, hail, sleet, & snow all in 24 - 48 hours of any month of the late fall/winter months. Ukraine will feel like home to this guy.

Good for him, and I pray for him, other volunteers, and the Ukrainians who are still in their home country fighting. If I had any military fighting experience, I would have gone there as well. But, I would be more of a burden to the people than an asset at this time. I have a great amount of respect for any outsiders who have come into Ukraine to help them save their home country.

The title of "World's deadliest" sniper is misleading. Wali is NOT the "sniper with the world's longest confirmed kill." Instead, Wali was in the same unit as that sniper. Nevertheless, I salute him for his past service and his current mission. I just hope he's able to obtain a suitable sniper rifle in Ukraine.

Deadliest doesn't mean longest kill. And also. Neither one of them is the world's deadliest sniper. I worked with them in Afghanistan. They are both two of the most professional shooters I've ever met. Or to have ever pulled a trigger. But they are not the deadliest.

Deadliest means more confirmed kills as a sniper and more kills vs rounds fired as in example= 20 rounds fired - 20 kills=Deadliest sniper. Not sure what his ratio is but one may assume 90% would be considered Deadliest sniper status.
