Grew up in Corona across from the fair. We parked cars in our yard. We didn't own a movie camera; what a shame. Thanx for this video, excellent quality for the day.

These images of the NYWF 64-65 are excellent. I grew up in nearby Forest Hills, N.Y.. I was 10 years old at the opening of the New York World's Fair in 1964. We went to the World's Fair every weekend when it was opened. The NYWF was literally in our backyard. It was a magical existence. The gate near the Florida Pavilion, accessed by the pedestrian overpass over the Grand Central Parkway and the gate near the Transportation Exhibits, accessed by the pedestrian overpass over the close-by Long Island Expressway were the 2 fairground portals which were a 20 minute walk from my (parent's) house. I remember The Brass Rails (food kiosks demarcated by a tent roof that resembled a cluster of large white weather balloons). I remember visitors eating Belgian waffle while walking to their next destination (most likely a queue to some popular pavilion). I remember the iconic colorful geometric street lamps. I remember the light green fiberglass slab futuristic park benches. I still have my souvenir injection molded green brontosaurus from Sinclair Dinoland, official guide book and guide map. Thank you for your generosity in sharing these images, it brought to life my memories of the 64-65 NYWF. God bless.

So many memories...I took a tour of the grounds last year, tried to reimagine the excitement of that time. Also saw the monument of the buried time capsule...Peace Through Understanding was the motto, still have that engraved keychain...Thanks for this!

How I would love to return & walk those grounds again! Best memories ever & why I head to “It’s A Small World 🌎 “ at Disney World in Orlando, the minute we get there ( haven’t been in few years) for just temporarily, it brings my Nana & THE NEW YORK WORLD’S FAIR” 1964-65 back to me, even if it is only fir as long as that ride last & those only to familiar music 🎶 keeps playing in my mind , as I leave my favorite “ride!”

I moved to Flushing when I was 4 years old and was nine when the World’s Fair started. We lived a 15 minute bus ride away so my mother, who didn’t drive, took me and my brother ( and sometimes some friends) to the Fair quite often ( my father, who did drive didn’t want to go as frequently as we did LOL). I loved it and I didn’t appreciate at the time how lucky I was to live so close to it. My older daughter was married in Terrace on the Park in 2007, which was an exhibit at the Fair but is now utilized as a place to have events. Happy memories😀

My family visited the NY Worlds Fair several times in 1964. Q27 from Bayside to downtown Flushing and one stop on the 7 Train the Fairgrounds. My only regret is not fully appreciating the wonder and grandeur at 5 years old. But I do remember eating Belgian Waffles, riding the Gondola, Ford convertible seeing Dinosaurs, Uniroyal Ferris Wheel, It’s a small World, Carousel of Progress, and Elsie the Cow attractions.

My three visits to this fair were the highlight of my childhood. I wish I still had my Sawyer ViewMaster slides of the fair. I had a lot of them. This footage and transfer are both excellent. Clean and colorful with nary a scratch.

Great quality picture and content. Was this your family? I would have been 7 years old in 1964. About the age of the young boy in the film. Back in 1994 before the park was completely finished I climbed up into the Unisphere and my buddy took a picture of me with a Stereo Realist 3D camera. I took my film canister and put a little bit of dirt from the fair grounds. Still have it. I’ve been a fair and expo nut for many years. Thanks for the great film.
