All people make so much noise about this point that I ended up believing it so I stayed on 1080p. Truth is, with my 3080, I have almost as much fps on 1080p than 4k. This is because of something I have been saying for years and no one believed me: my GPU get "lazy" on low load. Even if I set fans curve to deliver lot of cooling on low load, it seems the GPU doesn’t work much. While on 4k load, it kicks in a lot and you can hear it, and see it on temps, and it delivers excellent performances. Only on cyberpunk the gap of fps is massive (100 to 40), on other games I play the difference of fps is inexistant, and I often get 200-240

Such an aggressive curve on a small 16:9 panel is not necessary. I had bought the Samsung G7 and sent it back since it distorted straight lines so badly. Much happier now with the Alienware QD OLED (AW3423DW). It's a gentler 1800R curve and since it's ultrawide, it actually helps rather than hinders.

I have one of these, and apparently it's an older version. I have firmware 1002.1 and I have significant visible scanlines in 4k 240. They are gone at the 120 Hz setting. A friend of mine just got his a couple days ago, and his is sitting at firmware 1003.0, and has no scanlines at 240. QD-OLED is still superior compared to miniLED, both in refresh times and HDR. However, right now you cannot get something without compromises. OLED there is only the LG C2 at 42" or the AW34 which is a QD-OLED at "only" WQHD. The only 32" 16:9 4k high refresh AND HDR capable monitors are the Neo G8 and this 3000$ PG32 from Asus.

It feels like the content is just mutch more closer and you don't have to turn your neck so mutch to view the sides. Normally on 16:9 screen i don't think a curve is nessesary but because the monitor is so large i think it might work really well on this one maybe if the curve could bea bit less aggressive it would work better on 16:9 aspect ration.

Hey Tom, quick question (if you still have the unit). What is the maximum tonemapping luminance of the display? The PG32UQX for example tops out at 3500 nits while physically displaying around 1600 nits (physical brightness varies on unit while tonemapping does not). To find out easily you can grab the Fifa 2020 demo on Xbox/PlayStation and adjust the brightness as instructed, then multiply the end result by 100. The PG32UQX gets a value of 35 x 100 = 3500 and I've confirmed this with self made resources. And I'm not sure why but the last time I commented this, my comment was deleted despite almost identical wording. :(

Alienware AW3423DW is better if you like ultrawide screens and don't care about 4K res, nor use consoles (i.e. don't require HDMI 2.1 ports). I've just upgraded to the Alienware QD OLED from a Samsung G7 and the Alienware is stunning. It's only 3440x1440 instead of full 4K, but I wouldn't go back for gaming and content consumption. Mini LED is a very decent improvement over standard LED backlighting, but it cannot beat OLED in terms of image quality and HDR impact, as long as you're in a dimly-lit environment. Samsung needs to listen to customer feedback and stop using the aggressive 1000R curvature on 16:9 panels, I really couldn't get used to it because it distorts straight lines to much. A subtler 1800R curve or even flat panel design suits 16:9 form factor much better. Samsung's QA is also not impeccable, both the older G7 Odyssey and this new G8 Neo suffers from visible scanlines when certain content is on the screen.

Oh she's 🔥 af lol even if my 3090ti still has a hard time hitting 4k actual native 4k with ultra settings at 120fps but damn! Either way you still get benefits from a 240hz panel. But even the 4090 won't be 240fps lol. But regardless who cares? It's still a great refresh rate and it really helps you DO NOT NEED 240fps to get any benefits of 240hz. Regardless I want this panel! Also please console guys don't bring up the console doing 120 4k it's never native 4k and it's equal to low settings when it hits it snd even missing highr resolution texture packs if you read the coding so don't do that thing some of you console gamers do there are many settings not even there and rhe ones they did put into play is optimized at low. But I'm excited for this monitor for sure!

The curve is a bit intense, but if you want a dual use gaming / content consumption monitor with 4k *and* proper HDR then buying this and hooking up a streaming stick to one of the HDMI ports might be your best? Something else I think to consider is that although DLSS is an amazing feature, next gen AAA titles are going to continue to get more and more challenging to run. Cyberpunk 2077 for example on ultra + ray tracing absolutely cripples the RTX4090 down to a mere 30fps on average in 4K. There would need to be an astronomical jump in GPU performance to get anywhere close to the performance figures of 4K 240HZ on modern AAA games. I love that Samsung produced this monitor, it shows how capable they are - but ultimately the rest of the tech space needs to catch up in order to actually utilize this. That said - I bet Leauge of Legends would look incredible on this!
@jondonnelly4831
@jondonnelly4831 Жыл бұрын
AAA is not the be all and end all, the way I see it is that for esports you have 240Hz, for emulation you can have 240Hz and with DLSS and lowered settings you can get near it in some AAA games, plus you have a monitor that will last for many years, in fact its going to last until 4K replaces 1080p as the most popular resolution ! The monitor will probably die first.

IMO, no. I think getting above around 120hz is extremely marginal at best. But, there is definitely a noticeable difference between 2160p and 1440p. I opted for a 4k 160hz LG 27GN950 monitor with an RTX 3090 and a 4K 120 LG TV at 55" for certain PC occasions in addition to regular TV duty. My 27" is a good monitor, but I'd trade for a 32" smaller OLED monitor maxing out at 120hz in a heartbeat. OLED is where the market is going. It's insanely awesome tech. OLED is just...wow!!!!!

@@AR-ey1ur I do not, unfortunately. But yes, looks like upper limit for 4K is 120hz for G-Sync. I will say that most of us won't be hitting 120 FPS in 4K until perhaps the 40 series NVIDIA cards come out. Only way I have hit it is if I put an aggressive DLSS on for performance. I have found the 120hz range to be pleasant actually, I don't play eSports titles like CSGO often, and I actually enjoy this range and being able to play in 4K. Definitely a really cool monitor. Right now I have 3 27 inch 1440p 165hz monitors G-Sync only, (really old model from like 2016 I think but have been really great and they have Basic G-Sync built in) for working and I want to upgrade to 3 4k 240 Hz in the future but I cannot fit 3 32 inch displays at all as that would be too big for my desk setup. But my next monitor because of physic issues with games like Skyrim where having a FPS outside a multiple of 60 (like 144 or 165 has issues without modding with the physics), I really want a monitor like this but three of them not curved with G-Sync Ultimate and HDR 1000 at least, HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 2.0, all at 27 inches so I can stay clear of any noticeable FPS stuttering below 200 FPS. Probably at this point, we'll have to wait a few years for something like that to come out (were really close with the tech but not quite there yet, different panels have the things I want in it but not combined into 1 yet were getting really close to seeing a monitor like that however). By then more 8k high refresh displays I bet will start coming out any we'll be getting more displays like 4k 240 Hz at more small display sizes.

Depends on what GPU u have but assuming u can afford this monitor I’ll assume u have atleast a 3080ti or better. So for wArZone two turn ur shadows to low and disable ray tracing. And turn up ur picture quality to high/medium and keep ur resolution on 1440 or 1080. Using full 4K ur gonna get very low FPS even with the best GPU. Also pick balanced quality. And use boost mode on the ingake settings. Everything else is less important but u kinda have to experiment with the less important settings cuz it’s based on ur PCs specs.
