This week we finally got our 7.3L Godzilla swapped S197 Mustang GT on the dyno and it proved to be no slouch! In this video we will walk you through some of the challenges we faced in getting the car on the dyno as well as share some insight on what we think of the platform so far. We decided against pushing the motor to the limit (15psi-20psi) until our 16V battery and materials to finish our exhaust arrive. Making 650hp and 650tq on 10psi is pretty darn good in our book. The next time you see this car we will have it ready to really make some steam and get some passes in at the track!!

The only outfit that isn't embracing this engine is Ford, along with their non-existent power pack that's needed to run this engine.

@@peterobinson91 Chevy (for the first time in 30 years) finally put out a new V8 this year, only for the Corvette. Finally. Now they just need to start competing with low displacement cars. At least they aren't as bad off as Dodge, with their 5.7 only really competing with Ford's V6 Ecoboost motors.

Love the sound of a pushrod,that nostalgic classic muscle car sound is music to my ears. Coyote or modular motors in general sadly never had that distinctive tone.

Beautiful. That's an amazing machine. I take it this motor is better than the Voodoo and Coyote platform? Any idea what numbers the heads flow as compared to Ford's 4 valve heads? I'm a pushrod guy, that's why I ask. Great job gents. Awesome. It'll be a screamer once you finish the tune.

Subscribed for the Ford and Godzilla content! Keep it coming! I’m sure you guys do other things great as well, but Godzilla content should get views. It’s new and has tons of potential. I like LS’s as much as the next guy, but they are played out as far as KZbin content goes. Just my opinion, but the Godzilla is going to be a great performance engine.

this will be an interesting build here. So far I have seen the pure NA build of the 7.3L with Stage 1 Heads & Cam with 780 horsepower on the engine dyno. They retained the VCT and no interference with the valves and the pistons. and their next upgrade is to put a whipple supercharger to push up to 1000 horsepower. maybe once someone has figure out the best con-rods and piston upgrade kits, we might see bigger horsepower gains in the 1500+hp with boost, high lift cams, while retaining the VCT

VVT is good stuff. Maybe not for your application but I bet it could be used to spool the turbo more quickly.

No doubt! The plan for this engine from day one was to eliminate the VCT, install an aftermarket cam, and let it eat until we finish building the other shortblock we have for more boost. I am sure someone will explore the VCT stuff on this platform with theirs soon.

I love watching these videos I’m a little bit confused why you did not trim the rings knowing you were going to push the turbo but I am looking forward to seeing more I believe everyone on your channel wanted to see how much horsepower you could get with the stock form if you had just trim those rings I believe 1000 hp and maybe 1200 foot pounds of torque would be no problem

We wanted to see what it could do in completely stock form. In retrospect, we definitely should have gapped the rings prior to getting on the dyno but it is what it is. The motor is going back together next week with the rings gapped and we will see what it does! Thank you for the comment we appreciate the feedback.

Awesome build, but am I the only one who thinks the moniker of "godzilla" is silly considering that the 460" or 7.5L was still being manufacturered in '98? It's not like ford stopped the pushrod v8 big block in 1960.

That variable volume oil pump is the death of that engine... just like the wet belt driven oil pump is the death of the 1.0 ecoboost.

The owner and founder of our shop purchased this car new back in 2005 and pushed the limits with the 3V platform, ending with 1200hp to the tire with a Precision 88mm out front. He wanted to go with an LS based platform for the next motor but elected to try this new platform. It's been fun so far!

Oh yeah! The exhaust was honestly just thrown together so we could get it on the dyno. We've got it all welded up now, no more rattling off!

There is definitely a lot on the table as far as N/A is concerned. Brian Wolfe and a few other folks have been testing a lot of really cool stuff for these.

It is the same TH400 we had behind our 1200hp 3V setup. We have a freshly built TH400 coming from FTI that is rated to 2000hp that we will be installing along with a new converter.

650 on e85 at 10 lbs of boost... those are coyote numbers, if anything a little low... was expecting a bit more from all of that displacement...

Sure, but remember this was on very conservative timing. Once we have the exhaust wrapped up this week and our 16v battery in we'll start turning it up.

There is alot more to it than just peak hp. The power across the curve im sure is more. This is also a completely stock engine down to the manifolds...its meant for a truck it still has a truck cam and no work to the heads ke intake manifold there is a shit ton of power left on the table.

@@midnight347 stock coyote with a supercharger numbers sir are power curve is smooth .. and there are truck coyote engine out there stock just a blower or turbos making making the same if not more turn it up they make 1200-1500 with a sleeve block .. push rod engine is old tech cheap for parts but old tech hopefully they can beat up some Chevy's really soon

So whatcha got into that engine ? Dry sump ? I'm guessing the price of a used '15 s550 + a hellion twin turbo kit. Gonna race it as a tin can ?

Bone stock engine aside from our VCT lockout unit. You can purchase the longblock fully dressed for right around $8000 retail. The car has been a track car for the past eight or nine years and once we complete the built engine it will be running straight M1, and it will remain a track car.

@@cS-nf2dg What we purchased is Ford Racing part number M-6007-73, which is a plain jane 7.3l longblock with a harness. This engine is bone stock aside from locking the VCT out. We are building another right now for high boost. That engine has aluminum rods and custom pistons.

I'm wondering the same thing. Advancing the cam helps make bottom end power amd retarding the cam helps make top end power. I dont understand why everyone wants to lock the phasers out aside from the fact of using too large of a camshaft to use a phaser because of ptv clearance
