What a unique and charming bookstore--thank you for taking us along on your visit. Does my heart good to see younger folks showing such a love for reading (I’m sixty, I can get away with calling almost anyone on KZbin younger 😂). My parents were avid readers and taught me how to read before I even went to kindergarten. At one point, I had over 7000 hardcover volumes in my personal library, plus who knows how many paperbacks--not fun trying to manage all that every time I moved over the last four decades! I’ve sold off most of my physical library at this point and have moved to doing most of my reading on digital platforms now, mainly because I am able to adjust font type/size/contrast/etc to help as my eyesight weakens over time. If I can make a recommendation--there is a fantasy trilogy (The Summer Tree, The Wandering Fire, The Darkest Road) collectively called The Fionavar Tapestry, written by Guy Guvriel Kay. He was a protege of Tolkien, but writes in a more modern, personable, and emotional style--it’s been one of my favorite series in the genre for many years. Chris, Almost all California Public Libraries participate in “Universal Borrowing,” which means you can present your local library card at any other public library in the state, and they will issue a library card for that library system to you so you can borrow materials. It applies to any California Public library that receives any State funding, which is 95%+ of all local libraries. Cheers!

If you ever get back to Ojai, it's a nice place for a WHOLE day visit. It's a unique place. The atmosphere is calming...it's a highly spiritual place but not in a religious way. And there's a very peaceful😌 aura surrounding it. Thank you for sharing your visit to the outdoor bookstore with us.

fun fact. if you have a California ID, you can go to any county and get a library card. The Ebooks alone are worth it and some have park passes that you can get for free to visit some state parks. :)

You have more self control in saying that you will not purchase a book because I cannot. Everytime that I am in a book store, I seem to purchase a book and right now I think I have 250 books that I purchased and have not read so I am not going to any bookstores and Amazon books are off for me as i am determined to finish reading them before I purchase another book.
