I used to drive a limousine in the New Jersey/New York area and one of my passengers had a very sad experience. I picked her up at Newark, where she had just flown in on the Singapore nonstop 19 hour flight. On the way to her hotel she called back home and got the sad news that her mother had unexpectedly died. She called the airline, had me turn around and take her back to the airport, where she got right back on the same airplane and flew another 19 hours back home to Singapore. Now that was some long-haul flying.

That is so sad. I thought it was bad I spent 10 hours flying back home after Dad had his heart attack. Weren't going to do surgery for 6 weeks so once I knew he was stable I flew home. By the time I landed I got message from Dad they were flying him to another hospital for surgery. It was midnight. Got home booked a 7am flight and flew back. Still was another 2 weeks of waiting. Eventually flew home. Exhausted I booked a BC seat. Copped a screaming kid all the way home beside me. Dad survived.

I think the menu card in premium economy /economy class doesn't very useful, so they cut it. Because there are three options meals that you can get. You easily know what you want to eat.. Since the pandemic, many airlines try to cut unnecessary or not so important products or services, so they can survive. So it really makes sense that Singapore Airlines make some adjustments here and there to reduce the cost of operation. For me, I don't mind if they reduce some not so important services and products as long as they keep high quality primary services /products such as good food in good portion., a comfortable seat, cabin crew who always care for what passengers need. And most importantly is the Safety.. That's all for me.
@dennisrettke2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I personally love the menus, not just for aesthetics (although it helps). With such a long flight, you can kind of "plan" your meals in advance and select accordingly. Maybe for example, you want to have a heavier meal, or one with beef, at the start of the flight, and then something lighter later, or vice-versa. Having said that, I saw he had access to the digital version which is a good compromise.

In Singapore Changi Airport, it kinda makes sense for the Airport to confine transiting passengers, because in SIN arriving and departing passengers are not seperated (on the same floor) while at HKG you exit the aircraft below the departure level. Probably for the safe measure.

After seeing the horrible conditions of the waiting area and only 3 lounges are available to transit passengers, Emirates, Qatar, and Plaza premium in the waiting area. Hi! As a singaporean, I’d like to defend the rant about being confined at a specific location. Unfortunately, in May 2021, Singapore experienced the largest and active cluster coming from within Changi Airport. This cluster has prompted an Investigation, which found that there were no segregation between high risk and low risk passengers, consequently, causing covid to spread to the airport staff and into the community. Thus, it was necessary to confine to a specific area while waiting for a transit flight. However, I strongly agree that it is a great disappointment and unacceptable to see litters everywhere and vending machine badly stocked.

I travel around 150 or more flights per year for work internationally and Singapore Airlines used to be a premium airline but long since has that gone, even though if you are in business or first class they are very good . Emirates are in a league of there own , and Qatar followed by between Singapore and Qantas international , then probably Delta or Japan Airlines. I travel 80 percent business international, maybe 15 percent first and 5 percent economy, but all the flying is at others expense and I would rather not have to fly so much full stop , but you do notice the quality of staffing and the pride in work that is instilled in those airlines. No one like travelling so far for so long , my longest per year is probably Melbourne Australia to London with one stop in either Singapore or Daubi for just over an hour and that works out at nearly 24 hours or more with only an hour on the ground. If the staff are wonderful that's what makes the difference as most people are on the edge of tolerance on a flight that long . Lol

What a disgusting and dangerous area to hold so many transit passengers, including children during a global pandemic, treated like contaminated trash. Are you sure this was Singapore and not Hong Kong? While Singapore Airlines may not currently be the 5 star airline we all know, they did pretty well I think given the current situation, massive amount off beef in your ginger noodles David. This airline saved the face of Singapore after those appalling transit conditions, hard working professional crew, great IFE for an 18 hour flight, even a Business Class cabin seat tour.

I don't think transit passengers were confined to a small area in Changi airport terminal prior to the pandemic. I hope transit passengers can wander around the airport terminal now.

Let's be real here Simply have you heard of the Qantas airline that flew from London to Sydney? It only took 19 hours while this one took 17 hours and 30 mins so that is why the Qantas flight was longer lol

How about the distance and is between London and Sydney stopping anywhere along the route?
@marcd68972 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but does it currently operate? No. You see?

Qantas currently flies Darwin to London with passengers connecting from Melbourne. This flight was Perth-London pre COVID but Western Australia hasn't reopened its borders yet so Darwin is being used instead. After February 2022 Perth-London will probably resume.

Can you try Iraqi Airways in 2022? They will get A220s & 787s.
I know this is Singapore Airlines and the first flight was also an international flight, but I would have felt really spoiled getting a hot meal on a 90-minute flight, especially in economy class. On nearly all U.S. airlines you pay for much less food (if even available) in the main cabin when traveling within the U.S., though you might be lucky enough to snag a free inflight meal if you fly certain routes (like DFW-HNL on American) or certain airlines (like Hawaiian).

Tbh I excepted more from Singapore Airlines on the this flight and from their premium economy class. I’ve flown in December 2019 (pre Pandemic) from Singapore to Frankfurt in regular economy class and Ive received a two hot towels and had more snacks available (even some fresh fruit! I took two entire apples). The pandemic changed the airline more than I thought…

Not more than 5 years ago, meals on SQ long haul regular economy class are just like what was served on this premium economy class. So much has dropped in the quality of SQ meals.

1100 USD from Phuket to JFK by Singapore Airlines was mindblowing deal. BTW.....the amazing outro was missing~~
