I can understand the sudden and accidental neglect related to life threatening emergency like meningitis. I mean he’s even shown in ICU on a vent. I see the how of that situation. Question though? Was his daughter found starving locked in her room? No? There were contingencies for her care should something happen to him. The same MUST be true for his exotics. Where was his “exotic community” that perhaps his daughter could call in emergency? If he were just baseline responsible, that would be done. That said, this man just rubs me WRONG! Through the screen, major icks! I’m a clinician, I know people. I also have gut responses to people with accuracy, it isn’t common for me to just dislike a person for no articulable reason. So it’s not a stretch for me to actually believe this claim is probable. I’m also a huge animal lover, and noted the difference between the way his wallaby was cared for vs the other animals, also living in the suburbs with no habitat. I can’t get behind a lot of wild exotics ownership, non releasable animals that have been rehabbed and are in PROPER care is different than a “sloth encounter.” Gross.

The animals kept in the herd seem to have an appropriate life to their species and well cared for. (Please do not feel obliged to reply if you're vegan or vegetarian on the basis of the idea humans aren't part of nature anymore and hence should only eat plants- which can scientifically proven feel pain too but humans can't communicate with them naturally- or that you think your lifestyle could be actually cruelty free if you buy your produce in stores instead of growing everything organically in your own space ''only'' killing or injuring insects and destroying microcosms plus as a vegetarian stealing chickens eggs or the milk of other animals.) It's sad to me that someone would be infuriated by people that are capable of loving a creature so different to them as one of their own. It's something very primal for human beings to differenciate between family/the own tribe/community and outsiders. The buffalo has been adopted. It changed his status immedeately.

I'm a vegetarian but I definitely don't tell others what they can or can't eat. Animals are not murdered only people are. The bison on the farm are not factory raised but enjoy pasture life. If I ate meat this would be my choice, organic. Humans are omnivores and always have been and always will be and the vegan and vegetarian crowd are the most annoying bullies on the planet.
