World's Most Dangerous Programmable ESC from ISDT ESC90 90A Testing and Review

List of issue experienced:
1. Extremely weak brake at 100%
2. Drag brake does not function as intended
3. Changing perimeter could often require a reboot or factory reset
4. The car will jump at power on as it send a brief power to the motor
5. Not compatible with phones from 2023, to be exact, Android 13+
6. Connect to a different phone will trigger firmware upgrades

Tried the isdt esc70 on the redcat ascent, mad it twitch when put drag brake past 10% going to try holmes hobbies 12t 550 maybe that will help. Thanks for showing us the 90 it needs work.

J’ai acheté le 90 et il fonctionne très bien. La première chose à faire est de connecter le téléphone au variateur. 6 secondes avec le bouton ON/OFF. La deuxième chose à faire avant le reste : calibrer le variateur. L’application de propose dans les paramètres. Chaque fois que j’allume le variateur et que mon téléphone est à coté, il se connecte tout de suite, sans problème. J’ai acheté un deuxième esc 90 : pareil. L’application reconnaît les deux et tout va bien. Les esc sont montés sur une kyosho beetle et optima MID. Régler les paramètre OFFROAD dans les esc et tout fonctionne très bien. Je vais encore en acheter pour mes autres voitures, c’est du super matériel.

@customtoyrevolution the original firmware was pretty sucky. But after the update they've been great! I'd like to try this isdt 90 next!

Just like most ESC's you must "Calibrate" before you can program the esc. ALWAYS Calibrate an ESC first! No matter the make or model. I followed the manual's instructions and calibrated the esc before using the App. Had no issues except the Android version limit! No escaping that!!! Still the app is horrible though with spotty bluetooth connection and performance even when it does connect. So i tried it without the power button when wanting to use the app and it worked much better connecting! The manual mentions using it with or without the power button. I would like to mention I have a couple of the ISDT BATT+ AIR LiPo voltage meters. These plug onto your balance lead and will use wireless to send you a constant live voltage reading while driving or charging. The software is even WORSE for both, I have the 1-2s & 3-4s models, they both work equally HORRIBLE with the app that ISDT has for them. Just abysmal !!!!! I really wanted this ESC to be fantastic and it can be if you pretend it only has app for settings one time , but not if you go into it thinking the app will be some great live app (like it is supposed to be! right?!). That said one might as well buy the RadioLink Version that uses jumpers instead of thus one, the jumpers are said to be loose but that's an easier fix than an app ! The Radiolink version is based on same PCB but with better mosfets and is also 4s capable. It has the adjustable BEC voltage and 4 working modes including crawler with great brakes and even a boat mode. it also costs the same as the IDST .

I ended up using the stock ESC, save $, just adjust throttle trim as active brake. They really have excellent concept, just wish their products pan out.

Was looking at this one, a lot of reviews said that ESC is OK on itself, but software is terrible.

The isdt esc70 works fine now...they've fixed all the issues setting up is a breeze and works well on two of my crawlers

No. It is a known issue and ISDT is fixing it. I think they have 2 updates since this post but I already return mine and cannot confirm if the new app and firmware work.

This video only confirm that people need to read the manual first then give a review. notes on what you did wrong on the video: when installing ESC90/70 you have 2 options before the ESC is ready to go: 1.- do throttle calibration with power button or, 2.- connect app(no connection issues on s23 ultra android 14) and go to settings->remote calibration then you can chose a preset or manually change all the settings to fit your needs. IMPORTANT* throttle is disable while you are in settings probably for safety reasons Opinion: in my case I selected "crawler" for a trx4 on 3s, so far no issues, brake holds the car even on very inclined angles, when bashing and changing preset to forward/brake-reverse it also works with no issues (this is super convenient because with app is very easy to disable auto-brake from crawler mode and change it to a short course mode in seconds) modulation is very precise and smooth with a cheap dumbo controller/receiver, the same level of modulation as a hobby wing 1080wp overall ESC90 is a very good option when you want have advanced features at an afordable price, probably will change my other 1080wp for this one.

This proof you don't have a clue. The video is a snap shot of time when issue occurred. Since than there were at least 2 app updates and firmware updates to address those issues. ISDT acknowledged some of those were known issues

ISDT's esc's are absolut garbage and no support. Stay away!
