The iconic Star of India was constructed in 1863 and boasts a history of resiliency. It was only designed to last 12 years.

Respect to the ship builders in the little town of Ramsey on the little Isle of Man for creating her.

Absolutely majestic under full sail . I was out on my own boat, one day years ago, and there was the Star under full sail. A once in a lifetime experience to cruise along with her . 😃👍 The big expense is the insurance they have when she sails .🤞

“USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides, is a three-masted wooden-hulled heavy frigate of the United States Navy. She is the world's oldest commissioned naval warship still afloat.[9][Note 1] She was launched in 1797, one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794 and the third constructed. “ Still an ‘Active’ commissioned vessel in the U.S. Navy. Good story on the ‘Star of India,’ but overstated a couple of details.

They forgot the very famous and still active USS Constitution & the less famous but still active USS Constellation built in 1854

Lightning Strikes Twice. My Uncle Lou was a Flagship Commandant 1st. Naval District on the USS Constitution in 1964. I have His embroidered patch from His Jacket, and a piece of the White Oak Hull when it was repaired. Thanks for setting the record straight. "Red Sky at Morning, Sailors take Warning. Red Sky at Night, Sailors Delight!" Fair Winds to you Brother.

I thought that this story was about the Star of India, that's why I clicked on it, not some american ship.

@@gjmob you are correct. We Navy vets just got a bit off on a tangent.

Toured her many years ago as a kid on vacation in California. I'd have loved to have sailed on her.

The USS Constitution is older and is the oldest commissioned ship in the US Nay. It also occasionally is taken out for a sail.

Funny how im watching this on memorial day weekend 2024. She's a beautiful ship i was aboard her once in the 80s they've taken good care of her. Thank you to all the veterans that served and to all the service men and women who gave everything for this country. R.i.p. America is still the greatest nation on the planet and the uncertainty of the times right now will pass and we will be stronger for it. God bless America and our veterans. Hope everyone has a great weekend ✌️

I love sailing but this reporter's voices kind of ruining it for me. Absolutely love the boat tho!

fun fact it cost $100,000 to sail her on these trips. they need to hire a tug to pull her out of harbor and need a ship to stay within 5 miles in case of emergencies but still a beautiful piece of history

The oldest active ship? I don't think so. The USS Constitution in Boston dates back to the founding days of America.

@@kendallevans4079 I have not toured USS constitution since 2009 just before they took her out to “turn around”. According to wiki she was restored in 2015. It looks like she was turned around in 2022. When I watched the turn around there was a tug boat to push her around. Not sure if there was not enough wind or what. But she must be sea worthy.

@@Paiadakine Interesting. Curious how long a turn around takes? I would imagine they would have to treat her gently.

Guess the left coasters haven't heard of Colonial states and Revolutionary War. The U.S.S. Constitution is still a commission United States Navy ship. 1797 she was commissioned and she still sails. Old Ironsides veteran of t he War of 1812. Let's reassess and learn your history.
