World's Strongest Drill! - Can The Bosch Live Up To Those Claims?

Bosch dubbed their newest Profactor Hammer Drill the World's strongest 18v drill. WIth those lofty claims I figured I should put it to the test and see just where it stacks up against the intense competition in high end hammer drills at the moment.

Taylor, Sorry about the late response man. You know how it is work and kids lol. First off… I always enjoy a Tinker With Tools vid on a Saturday morning. Not only the testing but the review in words. The way you explain what features you like or dislike and your genuine passion for tools definitely shows brother. Your doing an awesome job buddy and you know I’m a fan. I appreciate all the time you take out of your day filming and editing to bring us these videos ✊. You take care my friend and I’m heading to IG right now to DM about the saws

I did try it off camera. The 975 just doesn’t stand a chance against the 1330 but the 1330 isn’t as special on the 4.

@@TinkerWithTools will that be an upcoming video? I feel like weight matters less with drills vs impacts but if it drops like a rock without it’s one best friend battery it’s a substantial con to some folk with fewer batteries. Maybe a “one hand behind my back” ranking for drills without their optimized batteries to see who keeps the most razzle dazzle with their brand’s more mundane battery?
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools Жыл бұрын
@@mathiassmith5667 that might be worth doing. Honestly for most tasks I say run the smallest battery you can get away with. The Bosch 4ah battery is a great battery that blends small size with still decent capacity. It I think you might be on to something to see who runs best on the worst battery.

Thanks for the detailed review and honest thoughts. What a beast of a drill. But she's heavier than the Gen 4 and DCD999 and although I like the added features they aren't worth it to me. I'm a Bosch (and Milwaukee) user, I just think I'll get the 975 instead which goes on sale quite often for $169 with a 4ah battery and charger. 1 lb lighter and still quite capable. PS. I strongly believe the 975 can do the 1 1/4 spade bit on speed 2. My 535 can do the 1" bit on speed 2 with the same 4Ah battery and the 975 is over 50% more torque.

I'll add it to my lists of things to show on a short. Maybe I'll test the 975 on the 8ah battery in that as well. Thanks for the comment.

I think it’s going to be hard to beat the Flex or the gen 3 Milwaukee m18.
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools Жыл бұрын
In the same tests this actually barely beats the Gen 3 Milwaukee and loses to the Gen 4. The flex is right there as well but I haven’t tested it with stacked lithium which should give it a bump.
@DiligentDave1966
@DiligentDave1966 Жыл бұрын
@@TinkerWithTools I suppose it depends on the individual drill and battery , but gen 3 Milwaukee beat the gen 4 in a couple of videos, but they were torque test videos. I think the Flex beat the gen 3 slightly, but the motor smoked a little. Also, I heard through a pretty reliable source that TTI is going to be releasing stacked lithium batteries next year. If that happens, it will be a complete game changer.
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools Жыл бұрын
@@DiligentDave1966 I would expect that different examples would vary. I would also expect a newer tool to beat a more worn tool. So it’s hard to get apples to apples there. I hope they do announce new batteries. More competition is better. Flex is pushing the competition but they too need to be pushed to help move things forward.

@@TinkerWithTools The person did say they needed to retest the gen 4, but I assume the gen 3 in the video was used. I also don’t remember what battery they used. I have seen people using the Dewalt power stack battery with an adapter to boot the power of other brands of tools.

I have an older hdh181. I was using it to put a hitch on a vehicle. I had step bit on it. 1 3/8in by the third hole it was smoking. Granted it is over 6 years old. One question. Why not test the 8 amp on the 975. I know that it would brought up its performance. The reason is i am asking is that i am an electrician. Do you really think i need to spend all that money on the 1330 or does the 975 with a 8 amp battery making it worth buying the 975? I mean my hdh181 only had what 675 in. Pounds of torque. I am asking you because i know you will give me an honest answer.
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools Жыл бұрын
I have tested it off camera and it doesn't perform better but not on the level of the 975. If you don't own either drill, the bare tool price of both isn't only about a $30 price difference. That amount of money might sway, but for my money, I would rather have the newer more feature rich and powerful drill. Especially since the size is so similar. But that's not to say that the 975 isn't a capable drill. If you find a good price on it, it's very capable, just not the latest and greatest.

When I was looking for a new drill, it was this Bosh or a gen 3 Milwaukee, the Bosh is impressive but the size, the heavy weight and the quite expensive 8 ah battery, necessary to put top performance, are considerable disadvantages. I got the Milwaukee gen 3 and it's plenty powerful but the electronic clutch is too strong and inconsistent for small fasteners. Normally pros dont go out and buy the most powerful drill to tighten small screws but it would be good fit it could it all.
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools Жыл бұрын
It is a big drill. In my opinion it is the biggest disadvantage. While the 8ah is expensive i feel like Bosch does put their stuff on sale more frequently. I don’t think you made a wrong choice at all. Each tool has pros and cons.

Just a heads up on November 1st you will be able to get the 1330 with a free 8AH and fast charger for $199… so yes I agree when you look at the promotions that Bosch does it’s really hard to beat.

Bosch has the highest amount of soft torque (for wood) compared to any other drill on the market
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools Жыл бұрын
It's a strong drill for sure, but it practical use I don't know that it necessarily feels stronger than other top tier drills on the market right now. And it only feels that way in my opinion when running it on an 8.0. Not bad mouthing it by any means, just providing context to that claim that they have made.

Althougth from 975c/110c down it made me a little disappointed about the power but what bosch had done with it it still a nice drill With 1330c/150c when it realeased out it was the strongest drill yes but now it isn't the most but it still a beast a great drill a difference point from the other brands

It’s still right up there with the best. Just a bit heavy but at least you get some unique features with that weight.
@raymathis5577
@raymathis5577 Жыл бұрын
So how much heavier is it than the other brands that can do the same with their big batteries? I see you have said more than a few times it’s big… but most everyone’s batteries weigh more than Bosch’s so even if the weight of the drill is more then is it really that much heavier? Just a question since it’s the go to response of yours. Would love to know the differences.
