I think the Krew needs to think of LAN more of an event rather than an endurance tournament. Most sports, concerts, etc run between 2-3hrs the majority of the time. That's basically as much a normal person's attention span can last. I think the organizers had this in mind when setting up the scoring. This is part of the reason the event got split into 2 days. In Vegas, having a 5-6 hours event would result in half the attendance passing out by the 4th hr from drinking too much. If Activision is trying to make this event a must watch, i think 3 hours is a good duration. Clearly the competitors won't like it, but they'll be fine if they see the prize money continue to go up.

Match point idea that guarantees a minimum number of games: You set the minimum number games (say 5). The points the 1st place team have after game 5 is the match point threshold that all other team have to hit. The team in first have match point for game 6. Easy fix that guarantees a minimum of 6 games (or however many you want). Also means it’s unlikely that it goes for 12+ games which is what cod is worried about and why they have set such a low match point threshold.

The panel is on to the truth but also missing the mark from a business perspective. It is true that the teams on the top and bottom are not incentivized to scrim for different reasons. Not enough money for the top guys and too much money to put in for the lower teams. It’s the teams in the middle who will pay for a chance to earn money on the big stage. With that said, why is it any surprise that the top teams rather stream ranked play than scrim? I would do the same. And, who cares if there are cheaters? Say this is true - if you can overcome a cheater, you can overcome a legit player. It’s really a wash. The lower teams also know they have very little chance of earning so they’re essentially funding the top players for experience, but again, there is a very small chance it will result in a meaningful return.
