We saw early exists for the likes of Ronnie O'Sullivan, Judd Trump, John Higgins, Mark Williams & Mark Allen - as World Number 44 shocked the Snooker world by reaching the World Championship Final.

The World Snooker Championship 2024 included last years Winner, Luca Brecel. Along with Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mark Allen, Mark Selby, Mark Williams, Ding Junhui, Shaun Murphy, Ali Carter, Gary Wilson, Zhang Anda, Kyren Wilson, John Higgins, Tom Ford, Barry Hawkins & Robert Milkins. It also included the 16 qualifiers who competed at the Sheffield Institute of Sport. These names include David Gilbert, Pang Junxu, Stephen Maguire, Lyu Haotian, Joe O'Connor, Dominic Dale, Jamie Jones, Robbie Williams, Hossein Vafaei, Ricky Walden, Jak Jones, Si Jiahui, Jack Lisowski, Stuart Bingham, Ryan Day & Jackson Page.
The tournament was played between the 20th April & the 6th May in Sheffield at the Crucible Theatre - it was the 48th consecutive year that the World Snooker Championship was staged here. The qualifying rounds took place from the 8th to 17th of April at the English Institute of Sport, also in Sheffield.
Kyren Wilson won the event, defeating qualifier Jak Jones 18‍-‍14 in the final and becoming the 28th world champion. Wilson had defeated Dominic Dale, Joe O'Connor, John Higgins and David Gilbert in the earlier rounds.
Luca Brecel was the defending champion, having defeated Mark Selby in the 2023 final. Brecel lost in the first round to David Gilbert. As a first time champion, he was unable to overcome the Crucible curse and he was the 19th first time champion who was unable to defend his title at the venue. Over the whole tournament, players made 63 century breaks and a further 122 in qualification. In the third round of qualifying, Noppon Saengkham made a maximum break.

So happy for kyren man deserved it he was like a silent assasin whole 2 weeks not many talked about him just went about his businesss was a matter of time before he won hes to talented. Nice to see different names for a change too the big guns just werent good enough thats sport it happens.

James Judd Trump has said he was approached a couple of months ago to sign up to a break away tour. what would a break away tour look like? Im sure in a couple of years it will be well established like LIV Golf and its something that is probably needed in snooker.
