Thanks for getting to this one! This is one of my all-time favorites and for me … considering playability, feel, and footprint … the best strategic WWI game published. It manages to capture the essence of the First World War on multiple fronts and does so with a clever and super simple attrition mechanic. It proves that wargames do not need to be gigantic, overbearing and bloated productions to be realistic simulations. A brilliant design.

Fantastic! What a treat! I just pulled out the map for this, yesterday. Mine is a used copy I picked up from a local gamer, and is copyright dated 1977, and is in two flat boxes. Thank you so much for this post!

This is a great game. If you tilt the map (twist it on the table by pulling France down and the Balkans up), you will orient the map in a way that looks more familiar to you.
