I recently watched and sent my son an invite to watch a documentary on D-Day. It was marvelous. It showed a video of the 20,000 Allied planes flying over the carriers. I told him that his grandfather had been in one of those planes. He asked me why I bothered watching all of the WW2 videos. I told him that I had been studying about the WWs my entire life. I just love watching about it. You’re going to love watching this!!

One of the indicators that an amateur student of WW2 is moving toward a more intermediate level is the recognition of how critical the role of Poland was. There’s a movie titled Warsaw 44. As the title suggests it follows the lives of a small group of young people who inasmuch as they signed up for a Polish Home Guard duty find themselves part of insanely intense resistance in the infamous Warsaw Uprising. I challenge anyone to watch Warsaw 44 along with The Pianist. You’ll never view Poland the same way again. I tip my hat to them and had I been alive then I’d tip my helmet too.

ok, folks - one thing I'd like to point: history is not based on simple facts account - this is good for 9 yrs old pupils - it is to give the answers for our contemporary questions - who, when and WHY??? So - is this a worthy doc, or just a simple illustration to my 30 yrsold history text-book? Ask your questions and demand fair answers, people.
@goldenageofdinosaurs71925 жыл бұрын
Zdzichu S. Well, of course. One could spend a lifetime researching one day of a battle in WW2. Even one day of one soldier. No documentary is ever going to do much more than cover the general events, no matter how long or in depth. I’d still much rather people have at least this basic level of understanding about the causes of the war & the major players, leaders, theatres, tactics etc. I’d bet, here in America, only 20% of people, perhaps less, could answer any of these questions. I’m sure when you get to WWI it’s only about 10%. So, while it is, indeed, a relatively shallow undertaking, it’s infinitely better than complete ignorance. Not everyone is immensely interested in history. I can understand & accept that, but I do think we owe a debt to the people who lived, fought & died in this war. We owe them an understanding of what happened, to see to it that something like this never occurs again. I’m awfully sure it will however. Human nature & our history predicts we’ll do it again & again..
@Notthetimeforit4 жыл бұрын
What an ignorant statement. This isn't a university lecture on the specifics of ww2 it is a documentary on the basics to start to inform people. What would you expect from and hour show? You want to learn more? Then you go and research, you don't expect to find indepth accounts that cover all points from a documentary.

I still don’t get how Germany recovered defeat from two World Wars and still be be so prosperous today while some countries are still living like it’s the Industrial Age.
@Knight8603 жыл бұрын
Germany's recovery after the First World War was in part due to loans given by countries like the US, though the Great Depression ended that, followed by the rise of the Nazi's which saw an expansion in Germany's industrial base with production geared largely toward it's Military-Industrial Complex. Following WW2, the US, UK, France and USSR divided the defeated Germany into occupation zones intended to be rebuild to prevent another rise of Nazism. West Germany (US, UK and French Zones) was also one of the founders of the European Economic Community (The predecessor of the European Union) intended for easy access to coal and steel. NATO and Warsaw Pact membership also dictated industrial rebuilding to support each defense alliance.

That's why we have to learn from our past to avoid these things to be happened again. "The lesson was" we have to care for each other. If we see terrorism and inhumane treatment and invasion happening to any nations or any places, even if the evil things happening not in our fences "WE HAVE TO ACT ALL TOGETHER CORRECTLY" rather than taking care of our own interests. Because time will come the oppressor might gain the momentum favourable on his side and it will be very difficult to extinguish fire of the devil. When Russia invaded Ukraine on 2/24/2022 they claimed to have 190,000 men and commensurate equipment. I told a friend that they needed a lot more than that! He said: “Well that’s a lot of people!” “Only if you’re planning on the other side not fighting; when Germany invaded Poland on 9/1/1939 they had 2,000,000 highly trained, well-equipped and coordinated force. Germany suffered 59,000 casualties with about 18,000 killed. It took 6 weeks of torrid fighting to prevail.” My interest in WW2 provided me with knowledge that was applied to modern problems. Russia showed themselves to be jokers and incapable engaging in effective war! Putin would be served to study his role-model: Adolf Hitler and the Wehrmacht, who were only partial students of history, otherwise Hitler would recall what had happened to Napoleon when he invaded Moscow. It was foolish for Napoleon and Hitler. Putin should never invaded Ukraine 🇺🇦, the rash actions of a fool!

I was genuinely sorry, and, to me as a German who has always had the deepest veneration for the culture of that country from which the first light of beauty and dignity sprang, it was particularly painful to witness the development of events without being able to do anything about it. I have learnt from the documents of La Charite how the forces worked, which sooner or later, were bound to thrust the Greek State into immeasurable disaster. In the late summer of last year Mr. Churchill succeeded in confusing certain circles to such an extent, by issuing platonic promises of guarantees.....The march of the German forces, therefore, represented no assistance to Italy against Greece, but a preventive measure against the British attempt to use the Italo-Greek conflict to set foot on Greek soil......Historical justice obliges me to state that of the enemies who took up positions against us, the Greek soldier particularly fought with the highest courage. He capitulated only when further resistance had become impossible and useless..

That’s enough dick waving. All the allied nations big and small played their part and deserve equal respect. The poles who helped break the German code. The Russian people who sustained the most casualties of an allied nation. The British and their commonwealth friends who stood alone when France couldn’t continue. The french resistance fighters who suffered brutal torture. The German scientists who fought against hitler with their great minds and knowledge. The Americans with their awesome industrial capability. The numerous countries who helped but I can’t think of right now 😂. The death of hitler was a death of a thousand cuts and each of them were as important as the others. Let’s not divide over who did what. Let’s unite in gratitude that hitler lost.

23:50 - 24:50 Amazing to see how propaganda works. The commentator gives his speech as if Dunkirk was some sort of victory, when in reality what is was, was the humiliating conclusion of a catastrophic defeat.
@krokodilpil83354 жыл бұрын
The situation of Dunkirk was the reality, but they changed it into a successful retreat to fight another day. They could just all be captured and Britain couldnt easily replace those troops. Hitler never liked retreating, which caused a lot of losses against Russia.
@michealburns80173 жыл бұрын
It was a retreat, defeat. There's no way to spin that to a win or success no matter how many cheesey movies you make or repeat it in media. It is just not a win. Not at all.

May the Lord God Yahshua(Jesus) be with these black men from the continent referred to today as Africa. May God be with these black men who were forced to fight a white man's war and were treated like slaves. May the Lord God be with these black men who were taken from the USA and the motherland of Continent Africa. After all, you white people saw us as slaves. I cannot relate to you Europeans, your descendants, the west, and the rest of the world for your senseless wars. After all, you saw me a black man as a slave. God Yahweh will judge your nations, the west, USA, east, for what you have done to his people. the black people.u

It worked well for the Japanese during the Malaysia campaign. After the tires came off the sound of the rims on rocks and stones sounded like tanks to the Commonwealth soldiers so they beat feet to the rear. No it wasn't "badass" but it was effective, and that's what matters.

Revelation 12 : 9 ,10 And war broke out in heaven Michael and his angel's battled with the dragon, and Satan and his demon angel's battled. But he did not prevail neither was there found a place any more in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, Satan the devil the original serpent and manslayer, he was hurled down to the earth and his Angel's were hurled down with him. Be glad you heavens and you who reside in them, but woe for the earth and for the sea because down the great dragon was hurled having great anger knowing he has a short period of time, the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking to devour everyone on earth.
