Despite a world at war, people endured, fought and loved each other and their country. What a strong, brave and honorable group of men and women.

Bob Hope's final words in the program made me shed a few tears. Thank you Commander Texera USN, (my great uncle) for your service in WWII.

Great old performers, although war is a horrible thing to be exposed to, the music and the performers are just right.

A big thank you for posting this! I've always wanted to see what a real radio broadcast was like. Even though it's a short clip it was really funny and patriotic too.

People still love the country. They want her to be better . To fix America's faults those faults first have to be exposed. Back then a lot of things that were wrong about America were just swept under the rug.

This is amazing! Lucille Ball!? Wow! I can clearly _HEAR_ how cleaner and CUTER her voice is before she smoked like a chimney! She sounds EVEN BETTER THAN she'd talk when she'd go onto filming 'I Love Lucy'!

At 4:27, "Bob 'Command Performance' Hope, telling each Nazi that's in Russia today that Crimea doesn't pay." Also kind of appropriate for Putin in 2023?

I cringed when Bob Hope thanked "the gallant Russian bear" when describing our mortal Bolshevist enemies.

@WestLAGuy yeah but a lot of that 20 million figure was almost certainly actually killed by Stalin himself. We probably should have been fighting them as well since they were every bit as evil as the Nazis.

@WestLAGuy well I do understand the impracticality of fighting the USSR but at the same time we needed to realize what an evil regime it was and it really put a damper on the idea of a moral Crusade against Hitler to be championing Stalin.

3/4ths of the German army fought on the eastern front, An invasion of Europe without it would have been worse than invading Japan had they not surrendered after the nukes and the Manchurian invasion. You might not like them, but they were the major factor in defeating the German army.

The enemy of your enemy is your friend. It took awhile but in the end the Soviets were defeated as well.
