People underestimate how important Africa was. It was key to the survival of Free France, absolutely vital to the war effort (cutting off the Suez Canal could have knocked out Britain), resources from the interior were key to the Allied victory, not to mention the Arabian oil fields. D-Day couldn't have happened without Operation Torch and the Italian Campaign. Goes beyond just North Africa

So, what kind of control did the Nazi's have in the French colonies? Did they actually have some Germans in the West African area or was it mostly just a name thing 🤔
@bonczek_studio12908 ай бұрын
Name thing but i added Vichy France to axis because france started to help germany and brittain attacked french navy in Algier after trudne by france and germany (i think that's it) but do you think i should colour Vichy France as different colour?
@baldacchinonicholas79628 ай бұрын
@bonczek_studio1290 hmm, maybe a lighter colour to show that it's a poppet, I have been working on my own (great powers world map) through time, I am going backwards, so from 2023 to 1988 so far, I have made maps showing 1932 to 1937 but when it comes to French Africa I don't know what the situation was

German troops could only be found in Egypt and Libya, helping the Italians. And after operation torch, can be found in Tunisia too
@baldacchinonicholas79628 ай бұрын
@outerspace7391 hmm, so when it comes to making my maps, should I do them the French colour? As the Nazi's didn't really control the area it shouldn't be the German colour?
