My pet peeve with movies like this is that we have to assume that the characters in the movie have never seen a zombie movie before, or that 100 years of cinema do not exist in the movie’s universe.

Oh my God, I know right. It's like there's no media, not even an ancient piece of paper mentioning zombies in the movie's universe
@VeryDryBones3 жыл бұрын
That's a major plot point of The Walking Dead comic. The Creator said that zombie films, books, video games do not exist in The Walking Dead universe and that's why nobody knows what is happening or how to deal with it. It's also why they don't use the term zombies because in that Universe it actually doesn't exist. Because zombies means Voodoo in The Walking Dead universe not walking Corpses. Hollywood never turn them into the monsters we know today

The book World War Z takes stories from throughout the zombie outbreak. It does an awesome job mixing different types of media into the story (police blotter, newspaper articles, personal retellings) It takes stories from all over the world and different ways people dealt with or were overran by the zombie hordes. The movie never captures the essence of the book, preferring over the top action to subtle chilling moments.

I saw this in theaters when it came out Summer 2013. I’d also read the book years before and was confused on how they would adapt the book to the screen. The book switches between different storylines with, IIRC, had an overarching narrative of the guy hired to investigate the cause of the virus, while interviewing key people involved throughout the process of beginning, the war, and aftermath.

My fresh idea for the zombie genre Typical Zombie apocalypse but the zombies occasionally blurt out random words like "tacos" or "tampons" it would have a comedy spin. Another idea is a POV movie like (Hardcore Henry) we see a survivor get bit and turn, the rest of the movie would be a POV of the zombie walking in hordes, eating or scaring survivors ect. It would be a more visual experience.

For a theater experience I thought it was pretty cool especially with the zombies climbing over each other. It reminds me of Resident Evil Retrebution. With the ending with the final fight in the white house. I see it as a turn your bring off and sorta look at it as a movie with an outbreak starting. I enjoy zombie movies that do that. Because you see how much society breaks down. But there so many goofy and pretty dumb parts in the film. But overall I enjoy it. Especially since I got a World War Z poster for Christmas from my sister before she passed away last year in January. So whenever I watch the movie. I like to think of her and our experience watching the film

The Dawn of the Dead remake and Shaun of the Dead brought zombies back into the mainstream (much more than they had been ever before) and as the boom was about to go away The Walking Dead brought them back again. The straight to DVD/ streaming market was filled with horrible zombie movies and a lot of video games started to include zombies as well. I think even the biggest fans of the genre got sick of it all because of the oversaturation of the market. Zombie movies went from cool and cult to tired and overdone in 6- 7 years. How is World War Z really any different from some of those straight to DVD movies? It did make a lot of money, but I've never heard people really talk about it even though they saw it. Honestly, I think they forgot the entire movie existed because it's so generic. On a side note; Birdemic also blamed the disaster on global warming, but at least I remember Birdemic, lmao. Also, happy birthday to Crystal.

Max Brooks hates Larry The Cable Guy. The chapter about the Hollywood actors response to the outbreak. He repeatidly throws shade his way. That annoyed me considering there was so much more to complain about Hollywood than one comedian that is playing a character. That is not a "Hollywood Guy" to begin with. As far as the actual movie goes. So be it. It became a family oriented film. Brad Pitt's motive's in the movie was always based upon that instead of in the book, he wass just trying to be an actual "fact checker" of what cause WWZ and how the world responded.
