We are still seeing some comments asking "Why changing the VO?" This is the answer: KZbin have demonetised text-to-speech channels , it already happens to Story Recapped, Detective Recapped, and most recently Daniel CC.......that's why they haven't uploaded for a while. We don't know the real reason yet, but most probably the AI voice is one of the reasons.. Please bear with us, we know this change might be difficult to take for some people. But we are ready to listen to your feedback and improve! 🙏

@maxkronader52253 жыл бұрын
It failed commercially because it claimed to be based upon the Barsoom novels, which have been read and loved by tens of millions of people for a hundred years; but it only kept the bare bones of the novels and changed everything else. The characters, settings, motivations, etc , are mostly unrecognizable from the books. As a movie it was practically guaranteed to disappoint the fans of the novels. And it's a shame really, because if the movie had been promoted as a stand alone piece of independent entertainment that had nothing to do with the novels (and obviously some names were changed) it would have been much better received. As a movie it's really not bad; it is only as a film version of the novels that it is terrible.

This movie was so underrated, and was a failure in the box-office. Frankly, I think this movie was a turning point in the movie industry, with how much they spent to make it and how much was returned. It solidified that taking risks is bad and repeating what works is good. Which is bad for movie-goers.
@maxkronader52253 жыл бұрын
The problem is the same seen many times when Hollywood tries to capitalize on the success of a well loved novel or series of novels, then changes everything but the bare-bones elements of the story line. You end up with a movie that confuses people who didn't read the books and disappoints those who did.

I think that the failure in this was how it portrayed to be a film about the novels of which it was inspired by (which were beloved by many), despite it only being somewhat based on the books. Fans of the books rather disliked it, due to the differences in the plots.

@yankeeforcestudios54313 жыл бұрын
While this was a good movie, I wouldn''t say it was from some long ago time when Disney made "real" movies, especially because I have no idea what "real" means, do you mean live action? Because they make plenty of those, honestly too many. Do you mean good? In that case, that's far more subjective, but suggesting that Disney made good films less than a decade ago but just suddenly no longer due is an odd idea, probably one blinded by nostalgia.

John Carter was a Brilliant Movie, with a Brilliant Ending that woke everyone in the Cinema i was with up and made them Cheer for Joy - Yet, it was so Depressing to learn how badly it did with Disney, with most preferring silly action movies like Avengers etc instead :'(
@druzzi90543 жыл бұрын
it isnt silly
@PastaCouch3 жыл бұрын
@Ricardo Alonso Rojas No it didn't. It was just a flop on the box office. It was only a pin prick to Disney.

I've loved the idea of leaving behind your main body for an adventure somewhere else that doesn't involve earth & humans. If only more people watched this and loved it, we would've seen the next movie about this real soon.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I find it a bit funny how in these types of movies, civilization is supposedly more advanced, yet, they still wear undeveloped clothing and use spears and swords as weapons while hovering in a technologically advanced ship. i don’t know it’s a bit funny to me but i still like the movies.

God i LOVED this adaptation. Really wish it didn't get shit on as much as it did.

Agreed. The critics really hammered it and it didn't make enough money at the box office. No sequel, at least not from Disney.
