Made and distilled in Calgary, Alberta, the spirit boasts 100% prairie rye mash bills and Rocky Mountain water, resulting in a liquid that is a true reflection of Canadian pride and craftsmanship." Because of the high ABV (66%) I add a few drops of water to mellow it a bit but I love the taste.

Two Brewers , Shelter Point and Macaloney's are all Canadian distilleries producing exceptional whiskey . Two Brewers being my favorite of the 3 .

The Forager by 40 creek is interesting. It is whisky infused with gin herbals. Tap room by 40 creek is also good. It is whisky stored in beer barrels. Quite good.

test some Shelter Point and/or Macaloney's. Both are excellent and even do some peated versions

Not strictly Canadian Whiskey, some of the single malts coming out of Canada are pretty good. I enjoy Lohin McKinnon, Macaloney's and Eau Claire. They tend to be younger Single malts because the industry is so young but they are an improvement over the standard Canadian style. Honorable mentions are Stalk & Barrel and Last Straw.

Portonova is one of my top whiskies I have ever had . Its for whisky drinkers who like bold powerful tasting whisky and not for the faint of heart ! .........Slainte!

I hear you. I enjoyed it myself, but less so overtime. One thing to keep in mind, I think this was a newer release of it. I know it used to be in a different bottle and was apparently different. Do you have the same bottle as me?

All of those suggestions are excellent. Most of the up and coming Canadian whiskies are found in Western Canada and unavailable where i live. In 2024 I am going to try North America's first single malt Glen Breton 10 yr. With a name like that you'd think i suggested a Scotch. Close, it is from Glenora Distillery in Nova Scotia(New Scotland). Thats probaby how they are allowed to use 'Glen' when naming their whisky. If you know someone in Alberta or British Columbia they'd have access to the 'good' stuff

Well that is a short list. However, I shouldn't be so quick to judge. Outside of Scotland and Ireland, I also only have two world whiskies. Both are worthy of me buying again. They are Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye and Starward Nova Single Malt (Australia). Cheers.

I LOVE Starward. I actually used the Nova as a basis for a single barrel pick I did with them. The Alberta is one I want to cover this year

@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Mackmyra is one from Sweden High Coast Hav also from Sweden, this is 48% non chill filtered and no coloring Myken is another Just a few to throw out there, I’m sure not as readily available but something different when considering whiskies from around the world

I still see J.P. Wiser's 24 Year around occasionally, right around $100. Very high corn content and has Found North like vibes.

Curious, but when you sampled out the Amrut, did you tell them what it was before they tried it? Sampling out Milk & Honey, Indri, Amrut, and frankly some Canadian drams, my crowd does sometime have a bit of an unconscious bias against "less traditional" whisky countries, at least for non-brand names bottles. Blinds did not absolutely neutralize this, but I think some people tended to weight small flaws greater for these less familiar labels. Happy new year. Cheers.

I've had two Indian whiskies (Anrut Single Malt & Indri Trini), liked but not loved them and probably won't buy again. If England counts as "World", I am a big fan of Cotswolds and the Cotswolds Founder's Choice would be my choice (granted, it's a very small sample) for World Whisky of the year. I just can't get into Canadian or Japanese.

canadian whiskey is not very viscous and doesn't have much of an aftertaste at all
