যুক্তরাজ্যে বৃটিশ কাউন্সিলের এক গবেষনায় উঠে এসেছে স্টেমের (STEM) ছাত্র ছাত্রীরা সেদেশে সবচেয়ে বেশী মৌলবাদী চিন্তার বাহক। অপরদিকে সমাজবিদ্যার ছাত্র ছাত্রীরা সবচেয়ে কম। ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়েনের নীতি নির্ধারকরা তাদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে মৌলবাদী চিন্তার বিস্তার রোধে নানা ধরণের কার্যক্রম হাতে নিয়েছে যার মধ্যে প্রধান হল বাকস্বাধীনতার স্বপক্ষে ও বুলি ও অ্যাবিউজের বিপক্ষে কঠোর অবস্থান। অক্সফোর্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজবিদ্যা বিভাগের দিয়েগো গ্যামবেটা এবং স্টিফেন হার্টগের গবেষণায় ধরা পড়েছে যে মিনা (মধ্যপ্রাচ্য এবং উত্তর আফ্রিকা) এলাকায় জিহাদীদের শতকরা ৪৪% প্রকৌশলী। তাঁদের এ গবেষণাপত্র আরও ত্রুটিমুক্ত করে তারা একটি বই প্রকাশ করেছেন "ইঞ্জিনিয়ারস ফর জিহাদ: দ্য কিউরিয়াস কানেকশন বিটু্ইন ভায়োলেন্ট এক্সট্রিমিজম অ্যান্ড এডুকেশন" নামে। যদিও আন্তর্জাতিক জিহাদিদের পরিসংখ্যানে তাঁদের যে যুক্তি তার অতিরিক্ত আরও অনেক গুরুত্বপুর্ণ ট্রেইট ও স্ক্রিনিং আমাদের ইন্জিনিয়ারিং ছাত্রদের জন্য প্রযোজ্য। তাঁদের গবেষণায় তারা শুধু জিহাদীদের নিয়ে কাজ করেছেন, আমরা যদি এর সাথে সরাসরি জিহাদে অংশগ্রহনকারিদের ছাড়াও গোঁড়া ধর্মীয় মৌলবাদিদের হিসাব করি, যারা ঠিক ততটা মিলিট্যান্ট নন কিন্তু মিলিট্যান্টদের সমর্থক যাদের নন ভায়োল্যান্ট একট্রিমিস্ট বলা হয় তাহলে এ সংখ্যা আরও অনেক বেশী। বাংলাদেশের জিহাদি বা মিলিট্যান্ট ইসলামের সমর্থক যারা তারা প্রচন্ড ভারতবিদ্বেষী। এটা তাদের একটি চিন্তাগত মানসিক সমস্যা বা সাইকোসিস। সম্প্রতি ভাইরাল হওয়া একটি ছবিতে দেখা যাচ্ছে দেশের প্রধান প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রবেশদ্বারে পার্শবর্তী দেশের জাতীয় পতাকা বিছিয়ে রাখা হয়েছে প্রকৌশলী বুদ্ধিতে যাতে সেটা পাড়িয়ে প্রবেশ করতে মানুষ বাধ্য হয়। আমার মনে হয় সারা পৃথিবীতে যত ভারতীয় আছেন, যারা আমেরিকা সহ দুনিয়ার বড় বড় প্রতিষ্ঠানের কর্মকর্তা ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শিক্ষক, তারা বুয়েটের কাউকে তাদের প্রতিষ্ঠানে ভর্তি বা নিয়োগের পূর্বে তাদের মৌলবাদী ও ভারতবিদ্বেষী চরিত্রটি ভাল করে যাচাই করে নেবেন।
