USA made a mistake putting Richards-Ross in the final over Phyllis Francis. Francis finished 3rd at USAs, Ross didn't even make the final at USAs. At worlds, Francis ran faster than Hastings and made the final. I understand Ross's record is unmatched, but by then she was slowing down and the results clearly indicated it. Felix also should have been put on the anchor, but that was a smaller mistake in my opinion. Ross was in 4th on her leg. Alyson Felix 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️. Why so good??
@edwardjones7174 жыл бұрын
Because she was blessed with speed that most people will never be able to acquire no matter how hard they practice. Now when you have speed like that and are willing to build your stamina on top of all that then you are going to become a dominant sprinter in the 100, 200 and 400. Usain Bolt could have had three world records but he did not want to work and build his stamina in the 400 as it can be very difficult to do if you aren't willing to deal with the pain and the lactic acid that comes at the last 50 yards or so of that race.

Allyson was in supreme form that year. That 47.7 split would translate to a 48.2-5 in an open 400m
@ThunderJuice4 жыл бұрын
So why didn't she run 48.2-5 in the open final????
@Shem22sr4 жыл бұрын
@@ThunderJuice because it wasn't necessary to get the win. Btw, athletes are driven by state of mind. Running an open 400m, can be more pressure than running a relay (where the responsibility is shared).

@@Shem22sr "Can be more pressure...." So you're saying it wouldn't translate, making your initial comment redundant.
