This is an innovative format. Not only is strength and endurance requuired for the distance covered, but tactics as well. Let's see more of it. Now what if they did this in something like golf or cycling? It's already been done in tennis for years.

That final lap is reminiscent of the first mixed relay I saw. The Polish team employed a Female-Male-Male-Female Strategy, which gave their anchor (Justina Sweity Ersetich) a HUGE lead on the final lap. She was so far ahead, she was basically out of screen shot by the time the other teams started their anchor legs. But as soon as the American male anchor got the baton, he started to reel her in. He caught up to her at the end of the back straight and overtook her around the bend. The other males overtook her down the home straight and Poland never got a medal. This 2x2x400 format is PERFECT for Athing Mu of the US. She gets partnered with a good male runner, they will be the team to beat.
@philomenaakpanaadie20153 жыл бұрын
Mu and Brazier? That might be good. Murphy would be a good substitute if the lactic acid just becomes a bit much for Donovan. I've heard Hoppel ran some 4x400s in college as well as Harris.

The kiss of death on a relay team is putting a woman on the anchor leg against the men. It could be latisha Jackson or sydney mcglaughlin on the anchor with a huge lead and the men will reel them in. It is usually an athlete from a country that is ravaged by war or unrest and who is not able to represent their own country because of this. I think in most cases this also means that the country does not have a proper sport federation, so the athlete is not officially able to represent their country.
