In 1965 or 1967 I attended the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival in South Ben Indiana and was amazed to find a young group of Japanese bluegrass players. They absolutely loved Bluegrass!

I find this fascinating. I had no idea the Japanese people liked the music that a lot of people here in Tennessee, (where I'm from,) take for granted... Seeing Rocky Top there, really made me smile.😊

The Peterson's have become an international bluegrass sensation via KZbin. They stated recently that Japan is the country with the most views.

It is very unusual indeed for Japanese culture to integrate a piece of foreign music and a different language. I think music is universal.

Not bluegrass, but I have the old vinyl album of Buck Owens in Japan.

When I was in Japan, I thought that instrumentally the bands were as good as in the U.S.. Vocalization was a little weak though. In Tokyo I heard young women sing different tunes in different languages. But they were only fluent in Japanese.
