I remember during the revenge of the sith toys with those egg shaped plastic shells around the action figures. I'd go to the grocery store with my mom and see a figure I REALLY wanted, like some cool jedi or a droid I'd never seen before. I would always be so heartbroken when I would finally convince my mom to get me one next time and the entire shelf would already be completely different figures. They sold that fast.. and there was SO MUCH variety.

God, I remember the early Kenner stuff. They could NOT keep those on the shelf. You always knew where the Kenner Star Wars figure section was because most of the hanger rods were empty. This was long before the internet, but there were still scalpers. You literally had guys selling the Kenner figures out the back of trucks and vans in the parking lots in front of K-mart, T, G & Y, Zayers, Toy King, etc. It was that blatant. Now, if someone has a truck full of Star Wars figures, they are either on the way to an Ollie's or the landfill.

Because you see it on clearance (for no other reason than some "fans" hating on a show), it does not mean it is not popular elsewhere (where it is sold for $29, which is even worse when comparing the situation between you, who can buy anything you want but won't, and us who are "condemned" to either pay the price or stop collecting for lack of availability).

The biggest issue is that nothing of current Star Wars has anything to interest kids so why would they want toys from a series they don't care about. Kids, especially boys, don't care about 30 something lesbian witches unless they're hot and even then....the boys that like that are preteens, still not in the target demo they always push for. I keep saying Disney is trying to hook the collectors market with this crap given they most aim so much of the new content towards adult fans, despite what they try to claim. Baby Yoda is popular with kids because he's a cute little alien babu. Og and prequels are popular with kids because the OG is paced well and exciting to keep their attention and the prequels at least are actually flashy and cool looking rather than being so sanitized as the sequels. Honestly, the whole of Disney's brand name is a scarlet letter on entertainment these days. Most that see the "Disney" name on a post-2015 movie expect agitprop. The core issue is that huge swathes of the public aren't too adventurous, hence Universal's rise by not doing much and most of of the discovery of new movies being done by people that talk about film (Letterboxd users, Schafrillas, GoodBadFlicks) or pirates.

I don't understand what Hasbro is doing. They are overproducing all this garbage at Ollie's but you can't even get a lot of the new Transformers. I was just watching a video that said Transformers collectors couldn't get the Studio Series 86 Ultra Magnus even if they pre-ordered it. It was available for a tiny amount of time, it sold out immediately & shot straight up to 2x or 3x the original price (which was already too high to begin with). Why would Hasbro even make toys of that Young Jedi Adventures BS? Don't they know Star Wars fans are in their 40s & 50s. Preschoolers & toddlers don't care about Star Wars. WTF is their problem? How can a company be so stupid?

I've even slowed down on purchasing LEGO Star Wars sets. I'd rather relish the good old days when I had to build my own Star Wars ships (though the minifigures are still in demand) and I prefer buy used LEGO. We probably won't get that cool New Republic ship that the pirates jumped in the beginning of Skeleton Crew, but LEGO doesn't always do things justice with their sets...those are overpriced and not always fun to build. 😂

There is one reason why because Hollywood and Disney in particular is to the people that supposed to be catering to the people that really matter when it comes down to it, that’s the fans they betrayed all of their core audiences in the pursuit of” the modern audience” which is a myth they don’t exist, but they think they do and they’re giving this object lesson that people are walking away from Hollywood because of the fact you have stabbed the back and betrayed the people that put money in your back pocket
