I have been studying IR since 1982. I began studying with this man in 1995. Ive met and spent some time with most of the IR people , mentioned below, in North America , and other well known sensei, as well as a few from Okinawa. Sensei Advincula is the real deal.. He is still my sensei. if you have an opportunity to train with him or any of his students dont hesitate.. If you are in the area of Oceanside California.. look him up.. you wont regret it.

I haven't seen Sensei Advincula in many many years, it is so nice seeing him sharing his wisdom. His Arnis system is truly excellent and his knowledge of bunkai in Okinawan Karate is even more rare as a native english speaker. Pure Genius, a treasure.

I got my sho dan a few years ago in isshinryu under first generation isshinryu master Ed Johnson. Isshinryu has been a great experience.

Great Master. I don't do karate classes anymore but I still do 3 kata every week for my health and balance. Seisan, naihanchi and Sanchin. How lucky I was to learn Isshinryu in college in the 90s.

I need to get back to this . I studied style long ago at 16-17 years old and got to a 3rd deg green belt. Now 61. Longing to get back ! Yes I had great sensei's, so such an inspiration at that age and it still is with me...

It is never too late to get back into it. Your body will still have muscle memory. You will be surprised. Just start slow and easy. But start!

Since I've started this study of Isshinryu, I've learned about this man, Harold Long, Don Nagle, Clarence Ewing and the other Marines who brought the art back to the States.

Clarence Ewing was my Sensei. I received my Ikkyu from him before he quit in 1981 or 1982. On my bucket list is to travel to Okinawa next year. I am in Indianapolis, Indiana. The last time I emailed Sensei Ewing was a couple of years ago. He was a supervisor at Florida TSU

@@edwinjones1000 I have a few IR students traveling to Okinawa this year. Would be cool to practice with everyone and bring the style back to life.

Advincula Sensei is one of the very few real American karate Masters. I first met him at the Kin Dojo in 1964 when I was stationed at camp Hansen 1/9

My sense was 8th Dan Tyrone Wiggins. However it appears many people are not aware of our art and many call me a fake because they don't know any better

I wonder how his training experience was like, training all day or a little bit each day
@AlCloutier Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure he trained consistently. He still trains almost daily.

@@AlCloutier I have trained with Sensei Advincula since the early 90s/. when I would train with him (I travel from Canada) we trained all day every day and when sitting around at night talking we would always end up training as well. Sensei train on Okinawa and would train at Shimabuku's dojo which was his home..

back in 91 I travelled to Oceanside and trained one of the bo kata we do. When I got home , my wife asked what all the little bruises were on my torso, ( many bruises the size of a quater) I said.. " I learned how to block the bo. Best training ever. " Here block this, and this, and this, and this. etc etc.

Did you fight at MMA or with Thai Boxer? Karate 😆😁😂😄
@AlCloutier Жыл бұрын
No, he helped to create the US Marines Combat System, which is used in hand to hand Combat during real-life battle. The kind where people actually get killed.

@metekosar2820 ..I much rather fight an MMA /or Thai Boxer who trains to win championship belts /trophies /or tap outs then to fight someone who trains to kill or disable someone..But that’s just me ..
