My sax teacher gave me the tip to speak note values, like „ja-ka-ta“ for tripplets or „dat-taha“ for swing feeling. It’s a very good way to feel and understand rhythm pattern. Thank you for your lesson.

Thanks for the lesson. Over the past year, I have been learning bass guitar. I can read and play the notes, but I struggle getting the rhythm right. My neighbor, who plays drums, suggested I get a set of bongos and work on the rhythm part. I believe it is helping out, plus you make the lesson easy to follow.

Super awesome! I’m beginner guitar student and conga player wannabe. This video was so useful for me and I took notes following your instructions. I stopped at 9:05 minute, saved it for future reviews. Thank you so much:)

Question so the & eighth note can land on a down beat ? I’m always confused with the eighth note with a flag Instead of the eighth note with bar across.

The dotted note is 3 counts of sustain. The symbol '7-like' figure is a half rest, it means you pause for 2 counts

👏👍 The nice thing about drums, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that drums are no respecter of clefs. That is, the drummer when writing, reading and playing the drums need not be concerned about clefs - be it the treble, bass, alto, etc . ˆ◡ˆ 🎶
@ibleasse
@ibleasse 4 жыл бұрын
Christopher Tsiliacos actually.... there is a special clef for drums and percussion and also a different way to write without staff lines, not to mention specially designed note-head shapes.

@@ibleasse Thanks, I didn't know that. I know that there are percussion instruments, such as the glockenspiel that play in the treble clef (of which I play).
