I like this. I've been using it, but have not thought of switching to my non-dominant hand. I like the way that you do it with both hands.

I love it! I've used the same triplet-technique just with my fingers, but it could be a lot more effective with the whole hand, especially on the cajon. Time to learn something new!

This could be a great technique for playing the Purdie half time shuffle or Jeff Pacaro’s beat for Rosanna. However, for me it’s going to take a LOT of practice! Thanks for the very helpful video!

Hey, this is the first video of yours I'm seeing. Amazing technique. I have a quick question, would like to see if you really answer it. When i tried to follow this, my fingers produce sort of a bouncy sound (going ta dum kinda iykwim) instead of the solid bass that i hear in yours. Am i doing something wrong?

What do you think about "faking" the roll with the fingers?
@AnselPS
@AnselPS 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Kalani! Two things: 1.- The correct name is "mano secreta", not "mano secreto" 2.- I suppose it's bad practice from me, but I learnt to make the first sound of the heel-toe just with the heel of my hand, not with the whole hand, as you seem to do... Do you think I should re-learn the technique or is it OK as well? Thanks and keep doing such fantastic videos!

I'm in need of a sure answer.Do I loosen the head of my cajon to the point that the corners slap against the corners of the frame ? I heard different takes on this but I wanna know how your was set up in this video . Thanks so much...
@GregMadeaVideo
@GregMadeaVideo 6 жыл бұрын
I think the sound you're referring to is the snare mounted inside the cajon. I don't think you want to loosen anything.
@Squirrelconga
@Squirrelconga 4 жыл бұрын
I would not listen the screws on frontplate. ...I did once when a cajon was just about dead, until I got a new one...but, as far as I know, you don't do that. If they come loose, you may want to carefully tighten them. Tuning comes from the snare wires, inside, if there are any

Not an expert but it sounds like half of a Brazilian rhythm: hand palm - finger tips-thumb-pinky, in a 1-2-3-4 pattern, on a tambourine/pandeiro.

How to tune cajon?
@GregMadeaVideo
@GregMadeaVideo 6 жыл бұрын
You don't tune it; it's wood. On some cajons, you can tighten the snare inside the cajon, but I don't think this is referred to as "tuning".

how do you avoid cramps in the lower part of your arm tho ? im dealing with those whenever i use finger rolls over alonger period of time ... :/
@evmanbutts
@evmanbutts 4 жыл бұрын
@@linuskoe2693 use a more 'relaxed' sort of slap with your fingers instead of a tense poke, if that makes any type of sense. Sort of like tapping on a desk. If you find the right spot on the Cajon, you can get a nice loud snare sound with light finger taps
@linuskoe2693
@linuskoe2693 4 жыл бұрын
@@evmanbutts my desk actually is my main tool for practice ... i guess the way to go anyways would be simply not to overuse the technique ..
