Hungría elimino con claridad a Paises Bajos, que tenia ya a Van Basten, Gullit, Vanenburg, Rijkaard, Kieft, Ronald Koeman...También eliminó a Austria, que tenia a Prohaska, Pezzey, Schacner, Krankl y a un joven Polster y después, en Mexico inexplicablemente tuvieron un rendimiento muy por debajo de sus posibilidades reales. Despues de ese mundial el glorioso fútbol hungaro cayo en una larga crisis. Una lástima 😢

Hungarians had much better players than Bulgarians in that period. I dont know how they werent win any match in Mexico 1986. Besides, Yugoslavs was by far best players on East Europe, but never had composed team. Yugoslavs are known to win hard matches in qualifications, and to loose some important matches vs weaker teams. But I like how Hungarians played this qualifications. Each macth on high level responsibillity, run and technique. Very good play

We don't know. Before the first match against USSR in Mexico, Hungarian players complained that they felt theirselves week and exhausted. Wrong food or something else...

Haha, there has been literature on this question here in Hungary - and I'm not even kidding... And, by the way, Mexico 86 was so far the last World Cup Hungary qualified for...

@@bioLarzen A great team in 1953-54, and 3 good ones in 1966, 1972, 1977-78. I did like the Zombori/Torocsik/Nyilasi line-up but it all went wrong in Argentina. A shame they were in the hardest group, and that red Adidas shirt was iconic.

لا اعرف ما الذي حصل مع المجر في مباراتهم الاولى مع الاتحاد السوفيتي في كاس العالم بالمكسيك..... كانت النتيجة صادمة لي ولا تتناسب مع التاريخ المجري.. اعتقد ان زمن المجر توقف عند بوشكاش

Помню ту сборную Венгрии. Её даже стали после отбора сравнивать с командой времен Пушкаша, а Детари называли вторым Пушкашам. После того, как весной 1986 года, за несколько недель до ЧМ, Венгрия в ТМ крупно обыграли Бразилию, ее приписали к одному из фаворитов ЧМ-86. Но после первого матча со сборной СССР, проигранный с разгромным счетом 0:6, команда ушла в небытиё на десятилетия, а Детари так и не раскрылся и не стал вторым Пушкашам.

и ещё из выдающихся тогда у венгров был киприх, он и детари оба играли в серии а в 80е 90е. я помню когда ссср обыграл их 6-0, все были в шоке.
