Selling for European record 6,000,000 Guineas at the 2017 Tattersalls December Mare Sale, auctioneer Simon Kerins brought the hammer down on Marsha and explains the techniques behind his craft.
----------
A brief history...
Richard Tattersall established Tattersalls Sales at Hyde Park Corner, London, UK in 1766. The first December Sales were held at Park Paddocks, Newmarket in 1886 with a new sale ring completed on the site in 1965. The Breeze Up Sale was introduced in 1989, and in 2017 annual turnover at Tattersalls topped 300 million guineas for the first time, with a record 331 million guineas worth of bloodstock sold.
Pedigrees featuring the likes of super sires Galileo, Sea The Stars and Dubawi are often seen in the ring, with representatives from Coolmore and Godolphin locked in a bidding war to secure the stars of the future.
