Yes but its out of necessity. Since English is used officially. Most Indians can only speak languages that are similar to theirs, like a North Indian can usually only speak their native language and Hindi apart from English,but not something like Tamil or Assami.

As you are in North India..... You can explore Chopta in UTTRAKHAND. It's a trek but the views after Completing the trek is worth. Also you can plan a trip to leh ladakh.
