The thing TK/AEW don't seem to realise, but is booking 101; perception is reality in pro-wrestling. Pro-wrestling has to work on a heirarchy, just like legitimate sports. Who's the strongest/toughest/best at winning matches? 'Cuz the "best" gets a big shiny belt; the maybe 3-6 guys under them should be absolutely credible challengers and their attempts to move up, or losses moving them down the heirarchy is where a lot of your drama is easily generated in an easy to understand, exciting way that makes sense in reality. The number 10 guy can move up to the be the 2 guy but that requires time and consistent investment to take the audience on that journey so when they do finally challenge the top guy; the audience can suspend their disbelief they might have a shot to win, but even in a loss they've climbed the mountain and they're higher on the totem-pole than when they started. Where my perception is reality point comes in; if your number 1 guy takes a competitve 25 minutes to beat your number 35 guy, the perception you've created with your audience is that number 1 and number 35 are on exactly the same level, your curtain jerker that loses all their matches is as tough, as strong and as credible as your number 1 guy; so your number 1 guy isn't worth their time 'cuz that dork that's number 35 can stretch them. If it took Brock Lesnar 35 minutes, where he got his ass kicked a and ate a ton of offense, to beat Akira Tozawa, you don't finish that match thinking Tozawa is a bad-ass, you think Lesnar is a goof who's lost it; why do I care about Reigns vs Lesnar now? That tiny Tozawa dude beat his ass for 35 mins. Your heirarchy falls apart and you can no longer generate interest with the in-ring or the title 'cuz you've said both are meaningless by breaking the reality of your own world. Hence AEW's problem, if you want to succesfully sell a product on the in-ring, the reality that supports that needs to be air tight and not tell the audience it's fake every 2 seconds.

I've been saying this for a while. Mjf is completely stale now. When he went baby face, I was actually shocked by his evolution, but now him going back heel so abruptly it's boring. But, my personal view is that it's only because he's rarely on TV. He isn't cutting promos every week like he used to, and wrestles about as often as Roman Reigns at this point. I absolutely hated MJF as a babyface and knew/couldn't wait for him to be a heel again. That babyface angle was so polar opposite of what made MJF awesome and a lot of people were complaining that he wasn't entertaining anymore. Which, I couldn't agree more. He was just cringe to watch during that because it just wasn't believable after him being THE menace of the company from day one. I just wish he would wrestler more and cut promos more often.

Tony’s becoming the very thing he sought to go up against when AEW first started: Vince McMahon at his 2010’s worst. On top of all the start/stop inconsistent booking, he’s been buying up all these wrestlers he has little to no time and effort for just to keep WWE from having them, he’s freezing wrestlers’ careers by keeping them under contract to do nothing and is also adding injury time to keep them under his thumb even longer out of spite. You are so right about the superfluous long matches. AEW will do a 20 minute match featuring something like Ospreay vs. Nick Wayne. There are far too many titles. No one cares about them. The TNT, International, and Continental titles are all basically the same level workhorse titles. They’re interchangeable. The MJF/Cole storyline is incoherent. It should’ve been Cole seeking redemption and taking the blame for MJF being the way he is again. Instead, it’s Cole pretending he didn’t do anything wrong. That’s insultingly stupid writing. The Death Riders stuff is DOA because only a small group of midcarders even seems to care about it. A few months ago, the only feud that was hot was Swerve and Hangman. Both guys are now on losing streaks. Perennially over guys like Ricky Starks and Malakai either get benched or aren’t ever in storylines. The company is cold and boring.

@@dranzerjetli5126 I think breaking them up at the time in which they did was stupid because AEW already knew they couldn't pay it off for months in the best of possible scenarios. Khan knew Cole's ankle was broken, but he instead insisted on him being the devil. Why? What could possibly have come out of that? Literally anyone else would have been a better choice. Worst case scenario, it could have at least temporarily re-heated a floundering heel like Malakai. That would have been better than a broken Cole who couldn't work. "I'm the devil AEW forgot" etc. would've been fine for MJF to then finally heal up and have a target immediately upon returning. Tony does things with literally the worst timing of any booker I've ever seen. He'll give someone a push AFTER they've been cooled off. He'll pull an important twist while someone is injured. He'll re-start a feud months after everyone has moved on and stopped caring.

You put people no one wants to see on TV every week, Garcia, Perry, Wheelie, while talents like Hobbs, Stark, Wardlow, and Miro sit at home or want out of the company. Mercedes is killing the women's division, everything she does is a piss break. We've said this time and time again, not because we want AEW to go away, but because we want it to thrive, it's good that there are multiple places for wrestlers to work. I forget who it was that was reviewing the last AEW ppv but it made me realize that the biggest thing against AEW is EVERY match follows the exact same formula and each match especially on that particular ppv went on 5-10 minutes longer after a move that should've ended it. I'm an AEW fan but i can also be objective so I'll address some of the stuff in your video 1. The Moxley/Death Rider stuff does need a big reveal, it can't just be five people terrorizing the locker room every week. I want to see what happens after Worlds End. 2. The concept of the CC was heavily flawed and to this day i think the Tournament winner should get a shot at the World Title.... with that said, it's a Tournament that produces great wrestling matches which is the strength of the company. 3. The MJF/Adam Cole story was forever botched when Cole broke his ankle, however you can't just drop the storyline either, at one point it was the top act in the company and if Cole came back and went on like nothing happened you guys would be complaining about it. 4. Everyone saw the MJF heel turn coming a mile away, and they telegraph the reason why. He was clearly jealous of Osperay, he basically admitted it in promo battle with each other and also the feud produced two excellent matches. 5. Tony Khan has a booking style that clearly favors in ring action, as someone who watches wrestling for the wrestling, it don't bother me. What does bother me is when major angles don't have consequences. The whole Elite angle was a prime example of this. Khan takes a bump for the first time, and while he did get a viral moment afterwards, what did it do for the show or the wrestlers??? 6. WWE doing what they did with Cody Rhodes wouldn't exist without AEW and Punk coming back to WWE i don't think happens without AEW. I'll summarize with this. Aew isn't perfect no even close but as someone who has watched wrestling for 30 years and have watched his fair share of shitty wrestling, i personally don't think AEW is at that level. It does have issues and it's something that needs to be addressed but this hate boner people have with this product borders from pure griefing to imo some people being naive about what the company is and growing pains a young company is still going through.

Theres so much more wrong with AEW than what you mentioned.. i agree with your stance COMPLETELY.. let me bring up some other issues... Theres also the complete lack of competance in running there womans division.. 2 titles, no womans tag championships etc.. its like there an after thought. WWE has had womans tag titles forever.. and are just now making the womans division equal to the mens with there own IC and US titles. Another issue (besides all the issues you stated) is showmanship.. WWE puts showmanship in every production. Pyro, graphics, ringside vid boards on ever show.. AEW only has half this stuf on there PPV instead of making there TV shows all they can be. Another thing is JOBBERS. More than 50% of the AEW Roster are jobbers.. ridiculous.. another issue is AEW keeps promoting CMLL, Stardom, NJPW and ROH instead of focusing on AEW. IT DLILUTES EVERYTHING THEY DO WHEN THEY DO THIS!. No one cares about CMLL or ROH or Stardom or NJPW. Stop talking about other promotions. The BIG issue with me is the fact that there’s ZERO build to a “dream” match, like why did ricochet have a match with osprey 2 weeks into him being there? The match was good whatever but now that it happened it became so forgettable due to the lack of build to a match, look at the cm punk vs drew feud, great build and great matches and all of it was memorable, aew has great matches but the lack of build just doesn’t make me care enough

I wish we could get an exact number on just how much $$$ TK has wasted. Miro was paid for 5 years and had around 5 matches. Okada has been a huge waste of money. Mecedes Mone has been a disaster. Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, Wardlow, etc, etc....wtf is going on over there. Tye last good angle they had was when Danielson was working heel by himself, and they completely fumbled the ball on it.

Hi, Day 1 AEW fan here (I guess that makes me a diehard AEW fan but I don’t want that label). I completely understand where you are coming from. You said everything I dislike about the MJF/Adam Cole feud. It’s trash and those two did not deserve to be booked in a trash feud. And I’ll get started about Ricky Starks. He should be a top guy in the company, and it’s insane to me that there are no plans for him in AEW. He was MJF’s equal on the mic in 2022. And somehow AEW is not using him in 2024. It’s insane to me. I guess I’ll still watch AEW for the same reason I was watching WWE in 2018-2019 when it was awful: there are guys and girls I like who I want to see do well and support. It’ll be sad to see that an Ospreay vs. Okada match could happen at a time when AEW is cold. I’m glad Kenny Omega is having his return match in a New Japan ring. I don’t want to see him in AEW’s stories right now.

i am a Day 1 AEW fan as well (not diehard , an actual fan who followed Bullet Club before AEW was even formed) aside from MJF/Cole feud i am totally okay with the rest of the show and saying AEW as a whole sucks and Tony Khan is a horrible booker when he is the same guy who booked for the years prior is insane. i think AEW can always improve and they have been improvising to cater to as many people as possible

@@kevinstfort they booked Wembley at a time when the UK scene was crying out for a big stadium show. Had WWE ran Wembley (as they had originally intended) instead of Cardiff for CATC, I don't think the demand for the first All In would've been as high. This was shown in the drop in attendance this year. Still, credit to AEW for taking advantage of a market that had been starving for 3 decades. They saw the what they did in England and thought they could replicate that in AUSTRALIA, an isolated country where they hardly have any presence compared to other territories. WWE did ~50,000 (in Perth, no less) and that was considered an uphill battle to get there and a lot of that came from possibly the most popular female wrestler in the industry currently being from there. Also, WWE trying to book non big-4 PLEs in arenas at a time when they weren't as hot as they are now was also a stupid move. Doesn't make AEW's decision to try what they did any smarter.

I stopped watching AEW and I mean like clean absolute drop “never even thought about it again style” after MJF turned on Brian Garcia and beat on him for ten minutes. It was just so desperate, counter-productive, annoying, distasteful, and stupid. Russo's problem was that while he had ideas, most of them were awful. With a filter, his booking was good as shown in the early WWE Attitude era. But without one, you get WCW in 2000 or TNA in the Hulk Hogan era.

When it comes to viewership it's a lot easier to access the WWE through Peacock than AEW through TNT/TBS. That changes in January. I disagree that the shows suck, it's not for everyone. Attendance could be low because tickets for wrestling shows are outrageous. Not counting food, drinks, parking and sometimes hotels. NJPW USA was charging $300 for floor seats. If you have a family going to a live show is a months rent. Most of the people that complain is that the matches are too long. Wouldn't you want that for the price of your ticket instead of a 40 minute talking segment? To each their own. I do see your point on you already know who's going to win. But it builds up the wrestler for the future. My only complaint about AEW is that they need to get rid of squash matches on Dynamite. Bring back Dark for that.

Doesn't matter if it's a little behind but make it available. I think the woman should have their own showcase show, so they can see a little more action. A brand split would be cool is necessary. Which such a large roster, it would be beneficial. Example today, Mortos is wrestling twice. Against Serpentico on Rampage and Kyle Fletcher on Collision. There's no need for that. The only way Tony Khan will wise up is if most, if not all of the wrestlers walk out on him for terrible booking. For crying out loud, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Jade Cargill is being better utilized in WWE than they had been in AEW. I feel bad for guys like Adam Copeland who have legendary wrestling careers and now that guys like him are in AEW, they aren’t getting the fan interactions they used to because AEW is the house of terrible booking.

Sum good things I like about this show was the hurt syndicate and the fued between Mina and Mariah may. Mone was forcing her to get beat up with a broken arm. that does make sense , it had a story. also Garcia taking on Okada its part of the tournament. that's how Tourney's work. its similar to G1 Climax in New Japan which they do every year as well. Adam Cole and MJF doesn't make sense to me either. but MJF turning heel for Ospreay/Garcia did make sense. i still believe AEW will change course and fix this story now that Kyle O Reily (not Fletcher) and Rodrick Strong are involved. eitherway , what we're describing is a regular rant about issues that exist in most companies today , nothing groundbreaking.

@ I guess that’s Understandable however for mone and kamille if the tease was there for them to be split for weeks I would at least have the story breath for much longer instead of just rushing it and have kamille play her part until she does decide to quit on Mercedes. Maybe if they had someone like deonna purrazzo having her shot or any other women that hasn’t got tv time to face her for the title, I would see kamille attacking her afterwards by realizing she’s stealing her spotlight more often then quit afterwards.
