Just imagine the pianist and rythm section learned the song 5 min before. This is outstanding

What happens from 5:33 is so funny and beautiful I guess that's why is said that playing great music together it's like having a conversation

Very nice recording! Han Bennink has been at the forefront of free jazz but this shows he can swing with the best of 'em (also, RIP Pim Jacobs, already in 1996)

There is a great video of Wes playing live in 1965 in Belgium. Try to watch that on youtube, there are great exemples of his playing

Excellent, superb. His playing just flows from his head without any effort. A musical genius!

Thats what I always say... forget the thumb, octaves... just enjoy the lyrical flow.. his musicality.. he could play any instrument, and still be the same - the great musician. Just listen to his comping.. an art in itself, so much feel..

I don't think that I will EVER get used to seeing Wes Montgomery's thumb picking and octave technique! Thank you for the video!

Excelente video.

Dexter Gordon's solo on his album is at the top of the list for me. But since I play guitar with my thumb, this gives me hope.

One thing is beyond me... not the thumb.. but his playing single note runs and basic harmony only with 3 fingers - he used pinky only on octaves, and (full) chords in solos.. and even then, how could he ever place those sausages he had for fingers in the right spot ?? Gosh..
