Thanks Cory. I love creating tutorials and sharing it with you guys. And it means a lot when someone watches and supports WoLD so the least I can do is reply back and help a bit more.

@WorldofLevelDesign6 жыл бұрын
I will release one very soon. I also have a very in-depth premium tutorial series that goes very deep on this topic: www.worldofleveldesign.com/store/ue4-custom-static-mesh-formula.php

Arent you contradicting yourself saying that lighting is least important but still, you use a lightmass volume, which is unnecessary for prototyping? And another question, why not use flat shaded mode?

my skylight is not working despite doing everything, any tips?
@WorldofLevelDesign5 жыл бұрын
Try some of these: - Make sure you have a skybox or a sky sphere, sky light needs this to bounce the light from - Make sure your Engine Scalibility is set to Epic (In the Toolbar at the top of UE4 you'll see Settings drop down menu, go to Engine Scalibility Settings and set to Epic In SkyLight's Details Panel: - Make Mobility of the SkyLight to Stationary or Movable - Source Type: SLS Captured Scene (do not have anything in Cubemap if using SLS Captured Scene) - Increase the SkyLight's Distance Threshold - Increase the Intensity Scale All else fails, start a new project, new Default Scene and set it's SkyLight to Stationary. Then see if that works. Let me know if that worked.

@@WorldofLevelDesign now that this is working i was following the fog tutorial on the ue4 fundamentals course, the light shaft is flickering, help please ibb.co/LvK03fx
@WorldofLevelDesign5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what's causing that. You might have some values too high, either in the Directional Light or in the fog or some other setting. It just seems that the intensity of something is too much. Also take a look at Auto-Exposure or Eye Adaptation settings. Perhaps this is causing the light shafts to flicker.

@@WorldofLevelDesign in short every glowing object is flickering, i just make an oil lamp and it had emissive textures to give a glow, when i bump up the emissive intensity to get a result of what i want, it is also flickering, thanks i'll try tweaking the auto exposure settings

Why not just turn off the eye adaptation in the menu?
@WorldofLevelDesign6 жыл бұрын
You can disable it in Project Settings > Rendering. If you disable it under Show > Post Process > Eye Adaptation, that only turns it off in-editor, not in-game. In the end, eye adaptation is useful and is something you probably want to have in certain parts of the level, so you may not want to disable it completely, just for the beginning of environment creation and blockout.

WorldofLevelDesign ah that makes sense, any tips for people that want to make levels and stuff, but can't make proper assets and are too OCD to have the levels realistic or something? I don't know, its hard to explain.
@WorldofLevelDesign6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Use some of the free assets in the UE4 Marketplace that were released. Such as the Soul City/Cave or Infinity Blade assets. www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/free
