@@chenjinguo Same! Crash Bandicoot was my first game played. Then Lomax, Rayman, Jet Moto and 2-Xtreme. Has been really cool to see the journey Naughty Dog has had. But I miss games like this that implemented weird (in a good way) gameplay mechanics. And if there are any, they're all lost in the cash-grab bloatware that is the state of the PS Store right now 😞.

This game still looks beautiful. Great example of fusing 2D sprite work with 3D model effects.
@rootykazooty3517 жыл бұрын
Yes, what a beautiful game. For me, the worst thing about the PS1 is that it basically killed off 2D games. For every Lomax, Symphony Of The Night and Oddworld, there are a hundred crappy 3D games which mostly look awful now. It wasn't until the Dreamcast/Gamecube/PS2/Xbox generation that console 3D games looked good. But it seems that nowadays there isn't a market for these gorgeous art style 2D games :(

Back when I was in high school, I used to email one of the guys who made this (Henk Nieborg, the artist). While I'm not sure it's aged well overall (with the sound effects grating on me way more now than they did back then), the pixel art is still _really_ impressive and I will never cease to be amazed that all the art and coding for this game was done by two guys in just one year.

Played this on an emulator recently. Overall a pretty fun game, I love the graphics and music, also the special abilities are really interesting. Biggest problem for me is the floaty controls and inconsistent hitboxes, like falling through platforms. It's also an obvious Rayman ripoff, so it does make it feel like a poor man's Rayman. I'd give this a 6/10.
