I've always loved the Super Mario Bros All-Stars graphics more than any other Mario version. There's something so charming, so lush and vibrant over it. I prefer these graphics over SMW any day. Don't know what the word is, the gradient colors perhaps, but there's something unexplainable that I love about this visual style.

I had a Master System instead of a Nes, so when i got my Snes i bought All Stars to have all Mario games. This is easily the best and most feature packed remake of all time!

SMB Longplay: 37 minutes SMB2 Longplay: 107 minutes SMB3 Longplay: 240 minutes So essentially, Nintendo managed to double the playtime of each successive game, and this was all on the NES without any kind of new hardware being introduced between titles. That's pretty amazing and it goes to show just how quickly Nintendo devs improved their skills.

Yep, that's what the King says when you rescue him with the Tanooki suit. Also, when you use the frog suit he says you've been transformed and offers to change you back with the wand. And for the hammer suit he asks to borrow your clothes and then says "No dice?! What a drag"

On the NES version, there is a trick you can do: with your P-wing (or enable a Game Genie code that allows Mario to super jump), bring Mario to the dead center of the screen after defeating the Koopaling, then quickly fly high before the scepter drops. Something I never noticed as a kid, but the aesthetic theme of the game is that of a stage play. Notice the backgrounds look painted, you can see a lot of ropes holding things up and bolts on a lot of the scenery, and the ground in half of the levels looks like it's made out of wood. It's even more noticeable in the original Super Mario Bros 3 for NES.

Definitely the SNES version of this game is the best. Mainly due to graphics, the save feature. And mostly the Soundtrack. Its a great improvement from the original NES version in my opinion.

Thanks for uploading, loved this game on the old SNES! They revised this on WII a few years ago... Parents brought me it that christmas. Play it with my nephew's now and they bloody love it!! Love the fact that they get to enjoy the games that I loved when I was their age! :)

Super Mario All Stars was released on SNES 8 years earlier than the GBA version of SMB 2 and 10 years earlier than the GBA version of SMB 3, though.

While I like most of the updated graphics, I definitely preferred how World 8 looked on the NES. That version really did look like a bleak, lifeless hellhole, whereas this game's version just looks like a normal world, just set at night.

lol a warp whistle could be obtained at world 1 stage 3 just simply by holding the down arrow on your d-pad for more than 5 seconds on the middle white girder towards the end of the stage that the red koopa is walking on, you'll simply fall through the girder and into the backdrop! Kepp running towards the end goal and you'll recieve a warp whistle! Another secret! the hammer bros can turn into a hammer bros airship if the level completion score is a multiple of '22'. This '22' represent the last 2 digits at the end of the game completion time (122, 222, 322, 422 etc). The hammer bros airship (which is full of coins will reward you with the rare 'anchor' item which will hold the main 'world' airship in its place and stop it from moving anywhere on the main map! 2nd warp whistle can be found in world 1 Bowsers castle, when you meet the first dry bones, stomp on him then take flight with racoon mario up to the top then run along the top of the level then press 'up' on the D-pad to access hidden room with warp whistle. Note that NES would let you go from 1 to 2, 3 or 4 and then bypass 5, 6 and 7 to access world 8. In SNES you had to complete world 4 (big/giant world) entirely to get to world 5 then use the 2nd warp whistle to get to world 8! Am I sad......probably yes! even more so that at 33 I still know these old things......oh well SNES, Football and singing are pretty much all I know!

Lovely gameplay, a very expert player indeed. I just have one issue. It freaks me out when you have useless basic mushrooms and stars in your extra inventory, and precious items like the power wing and cloud etc, get replaced.

I prefer the original NES version. The graphics and might not have been as detailed, but they created a starkness (especially in the music) that isn't in this soft, more cartoony version.
