Some games really do make use of the early graphics to make a Atmosphere. I don't know why but even some nice fog affects cant compete with that low draw distance. Somehow I think King Field 4 looks worse despite the better graphics and hardware

+FlutterSky1 This game has only aged horribly to those that care about games having amazing graphics. King's Field is essentially the perfect dungeon crawling action-RPG. The gameplay still holds up to this day (admittedly 4 is even better than the prior 3 which are all brilliant), but sadly NO ONE IS MAKING GAMES LIKE THIS ANY MORE. No-one seems to be interested in first person RPGs any more, not even Bethesda. No really, anyone that tells me Skyrim and Fallout 4 are RPGs should go play Daggerfall or Morrowind. "Worse" graphics, infinitely deeper gameplay. And then there's Ultima Underworld...

This isn't the game I played. In the game I remember, you start on a rock and have to walk across some shallow water to get on the main island. You could go left, to find a kraken guarding a dragon crystal; continuing past was a bridge with jumping fish, a waterfall with skeletons behind it. If you went right at the beginning, there's the main dungeon entrance, a bridge that leads to a distant tower (where you can grab a wind spell), or (past the entrance) a cave with some snails (which leads to the fireball spell).

I love DS games, BB, but the one thing from soft has forgotten is how much music can heighten the atmosphere and immersion into a game. They have great boss music but the rest of the time it's boots clicking on stone. I wish the different areas had music to go with them. Now Elden Ring did have some good music.
