The reason why Batman (Genesis) was released two years after the movie was due to Nintendo holding exclusive console rights to the first Batman movie circa 1989-1990, preventing any other games based on the movie from being released (such as the Genesis and PC Engine versions). Sunsoft waited until the exclusivity agreement ran out to belatedly release Genesis Batman (which had been released over a year earlier in Japan).

So many wonderful memories and so many great stories came from these systems and games. It was a great time to be alive and a better time to be a kid. If you were between the ages of 5 and 18 in 1985 you were set for a decade of fun and technological advances that would blow your mind! That and the BEST MUSIC EVER was produced from 1978-1992. Shame Sunsoft would burn out rather quickly after this game, and the Superman game, basically releasing games for smaller western studios, and not doing games themselves. On the SNES, they were still doing Hebereke games, the only thing on that console that kept them from falling into the same trap they fell into on the Genesis. They started strong on the Genesis, but that flare did not last long, and later games that bore the Sunsoft logo were an embarrassment to Sunsoft.
