IMO, this still has to be the reference standard for video games. While I played it on the PS1, it pushed that system's power to unprecedented heights and had cinematics and storytelling that still haven't been seen since. A true "masterpiece".

You find out after the credits that Liquid WAS the superior one, but he always believed it was Snake.

@PunisherPayne Hmmm... if the ammount of ammo is a problem, you always can finish REX in another way: when the cockpit is open try to hide from Liquid (it takes some time but eventually he'll lose your track if you keep moving and hidding) and when he's searching for you, shoot him with the PSG-1 and run away. This way is way longer than the main one but it's acceptable too. Also remember to use your STUN grenades whenever possible.

This is still the best video game ever. Surely the second and fourth are beautifully made, but without the beauty of this one, the second and fourth wouldn't have been made. The third doesn't qualify as a Metal Gear Solid. Prequels are dull and boring unless it's Street Fighter, lol. Anyway, thanks for the Long Play. =)

Argggh, I have been stuck on Rex for like 10 years.... mainly because i have shit amount of stingers and chaff grenades. I can usually get to the open cockpit part but the fucker keeps killing me because i run out of stingers and can't get to the refills in time.

@XxXColeTrainxXx ???A little sensational there? This game wasn't the first as you would say "Epic" game...Halo and this game are apples and oranges. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is far more epic than Halo ever was and if you dont believe me, you go and play it. There have been other epic games, but for the Playstation this aside from a handful of other games this was the most epic. Up to that time there were plenty of epic PC games, like System Shock, Deus Ex, and most of all Descent.

Why wasn't the north American release of metal gear solid able to incorporate a first person view? I would've enjoyed that very much. Also, the control scheme on that game was a nightmare. I honestly thought there would've been a way to change it. One more thing; why was there a separate VR missions disk released if the MGS game it's self had VR training?

The VR Missions were MUCH more extensive than the VR Training in the game. There was a ton of missions.
