Never traded in or sold a phone before, and a data breach was worrisome. Hard factory reset will alleviate my concerns. Thank you. Needed to Factory Reset because some strange bug was opening random sites. I looked for an unsubscribe and there was none. Took phone to carrier and the young man cleared my cache; however, that only solved problem for An hour. Hoping resetting to Factory will solve problem. Fingers crossed.

I did a soft reset and hard reset. Both did the same thing. No need to delete any accounts first.

I do this every 3-4 months or sooner if the phone is acting weird. I started doing it when I was using a Samsung Galaxy Lite and it started acting weird, strange and unusual. Doing it on a Motorola fixed an issue it was having saving to the Micro SD Card. I'd had the phone almost 3 months and it stopped saving to the card. Motorola wasn't any help so I did a factory reset and that fixed it.🤷🏼‍♂️

I want to sell the phone on eBay so is it ok to just wipe it clean without recovering the Gmail account,etc? In other words,can a new buyer start from scratch with it?

Yes a new buyer can start from scratch if u have no gmail linked to email app on phone or if u do then delete all the gmails u have then factory reset. 👍
